Ground Strap

Ground Strap
Silly question,
Can any of you tell me where the factory ground strap is located? I've received the Pettit upgrade to this (it's free) and I'm such a non-mechanic that I'm not sure where the factory ground strap is located. Is it the strap from the manifold to the chassis or is ther another strap that I'm overlooking.
Thanks!

actually there ground strap kit goes from the NEG. of the battery to the shock tower(not really but close to it) into a already tapped hole! but you must replace the stock ground strap as mentioned above as it will help greatly in 3k hesitation

The primary engine ground is a large black cable which travels under the fuse\relay box on the driver's shock tower to the bottom of the motor by the trans. It often gets oily and needs to be cleaned. The same cable grounds just under the relay box. The Pettit kit goes from the neg battery post to the driver's shock tower just above the relay box. There is also a ground from the intake to the fire wall. There is an updated part from the Mazda TSB which upgrades this ground wire. It eliminates the push spade connector which is prone to melting. There is also an exhaust ground to the subframe just prior to the axle. Usually pretty corroded and needs to be cleaned.

Make sure all three grounds mentioned by rotary-tt are clean, solid connections.

You have to jack up the car to that step for the pettit grounding kit. The instructions are not clear but look directly under the spark plugs all the way down and you will see the strap. The wire itself is black with a yellow stripe on it. Use the bolt that is supplied and bolt it directly to the block.
