Ground locations?

Putting the car together and cant seem to find out where these two grounds go. I have a good idea of the location but was curious if anyone has a good picture of the ground location. One is from the stock engine harness and the other is from the charging harness. Thanks.

I am recalling from my engine removal so dont hold me to this.

I believe the first on goes on the firewall by where the UIM and LIM meet.

I think the second one gets bolted to the fuse box in the main body harness on the drivers side.

actually that second one might have been bolted to the frame rail just above the motor mount. My wiring was a little jacked up from the previous owner though.

I also added one from the negative battery to the ECU ground as well. I noticed a smoother idle.

For a Mazda recommendation on stock ground connection improvement, see post #42 in this thread. The whole thread is of considerable interest too.

I usually come back to this diagram, but it's a little low resolution these days and the original is hard to find. Here's some I stole from a Japanese site:

I have always wondered exactly how the alternator gets grounded. I assume it's via the case, but I haven't taken one apart to see exactly which surfaces or mounting bolts might be important.

Yup, it grounds thru the case & mounting bolts. So if you ever have your alternator powder coated to make it look pretty, you'll need to mask off the areas behind the mounting ears where it contacts the engine block/brackets and area under the pivot bolt head.
