Grinding in 5th gear

Everytime I shift into 5th gear, I grind, even though I shift slowly. Has anybody suffered this syndrome?

It is very common, your need to have you tranny rebuilt, or just you 5th gear synco replaced. Sometimes switching to systhetic tranny fluid helps out a little. Next time search before you ask though.

Yep,

Had to replace the 5th gear syncho. If you have a '93 you'll probably want to replace the shift select spindle to prevent misshifts into 5th from 2nd. If you want to do it yourself Ray at Malloy Mazda has the necessary parts.

That and other best mod in my opinion to prevent from miss shiftin is to get a B&M short throw shifter, never miss shifted since I installed it...

I also had problems shifting from 2nd to 3rd (going & grinding into 5th instead to 3rd). But since then I adopted my driving style and never had the problem since. You need to take things slower and gradually you will get used to how to shift. FD has a nice gearbox... until you drove Integra... now that is an example how gearboxes should be
