green wire in engine no idea where it connects HELP!!!!!!!!!!
Hey, I bought a 94 Touring a few weeks ago, and while i was cleaning the engine last weekend i noticed theres a single wire hanging down almost to the lower control arm inside the engine compartment. its located on the driverside right above the rear plugs. I cant see where it connects to wilthout removing the compression tube which i really dont want to do. if anyone could helpme i would really appreciate it!!! the wire is loomed and capped for now, but it seems weird having a wie loose in the engine bay. I pulled some of the loom ooff and it seems to be a solid green wire. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!
from which harness does it seem to be coming from? the engine harness runs along from the battery to the transmission and connects the alternator,
The Emissions harness is the main one that lies underneath your intake manifold.

why not just remove the compression tube to see where it leads...it wont hurt anything. my guess is egr but there are so many wires, what you describe cant really give it away. can you at least post a picture?
im not sure exactly where it connects to, but it runs out the driver side of the engine and hangs down in the space where the plug wires are and the steering colum
ya im sorry without a picture this is going to be really hard because on the emission harness there a quite a few green wires or green striped but hard to tell anyways. but i cant see any that have enough length to them to allow them to hang down like you describe.
i just removed the compression tube and found out the green wire is spliced into two black/red wires that lead to 2 seperate harnesses the attatched pictures show the harnesses the first is a white harness just forward and underneeth the UIM and the other is a blue harness right benieth the UIM. and advice?
those blue white and black plugs are your ignition coil harness.
it could be a ground wire for the coil plugs
i had a similar wire that was also spliced into that little harness but when i ordered a new one there was no ground wire at all coming out of it.
there should be a common wire that runs to each white black and blue connector (and i do believe it is the b/r) if the wire your talking about is spliced into that common wire its just a grounding wire and you have no worries at all.
you could cut if off safely if you are sure that you have good grounding points or just reground it to the block anywhere
Edit: i just quickly rechecked the wiring diagram and yes that b/r wire is your common ground so any wires spliced into that would just provide a quicker ground.

usually any problems with your tach are directly related with you igniter (in my experience anyways) just try grounding it start it up and see what happens. it wont hurt anything.
Edit: i cant really make any diagnosis about your tach... but everytime ive ever had a problem with it its been the igniter.

it seems to be getting a shaky signal. it will bounce between 750 and 1500, and then shut off and go back to 0 above 1500 but under it just bounces
that is very interesting... and very strange. take the wire right out and replace the fuse whoever owned it before you had something there i have no idea what but its weird because i had no problems with a ground wire spliced into my ignition harness

i rechecked the diagram and from what i can tell the b/r wire is the positive supply to the coils, and someone spliced into both trailing coil supplies, why? though, im not sure
^^ what I was thinking, I have a spare ignition harness with the ground eliminated for sale if you wanna try that out. It was the best thing I ever did. One less ground to worry about. BTW its brand new OEM.
