I have an opportunity to buy another fd from a friend. 190,000 miles on the chassis and a little over 30,000 on a rebuild. It's a 94 VR touring, mostly stock. He went non-sequential and has a catback bolted on. The VERY high miles is almost enough to turn me away immediately, but his asking price is very low... I have not driven it yet, but will before purchase along with compression tests, of course. Would any of you buy an fd with 190,000 miles??
I would not. There's a hell of alot of general wear and tear on that chassis.
But then again my Fd was the first car I ever bought used, so I guess one with 190000+ simply got too many unknown issues for me

I'd buy it, just do all the maintnence when you get it. Replace the engine and ignition harnesses, replace the FPD, all the hoses and vac lines, etc.
Trust me, you can buy one at 80k that has just as many issues as one at 180k, I don't see any reason to not go for it. It won't be much (any) more expensive or problematic than any other FD. Just be prepared for the maintnence off the bat.

that's what i was thinking. he wants $8,500 and all i can think about is "who would want to buy this car"? i should convince him to part it out so i can just get at what i really want
although i would hate to see an fd get torn apart...

dude for 6k you can get them in connecticut all day!!! way less miles than that! They curse rotarys around here. **** i got mine with 60000 for my yamaha rapter!! and then he threw in big turbo set up all in the box and full apexi exhaust. Too far shipping is worth it. less than what you would spend on some one elses problem., especially if your gettin it 3000 less!! Ct is where you buy rotarys!

i know whose car you bought tho
yes i would.. mileage is for oem parts. if everything has been replace then why care? if it runs good and parts are new then why do you care how many miles the old parts that is not even on the car has?
The car is stock, with the exception of a catback. Notice my initial post for the thread.
I'd buy it if its not a total POS. The price is right and it comes with a rebuilt engine as a bonus. Is the car an automatic or a 5spd?
Its funny how we americans frown upon these "high mileage" cars when people in other countries get excited about a low mileage car with 200k on the clock
Seriously. Listen to this guy. FDs are expensive whether they have low miles or high miles. Most FDs on the road now need a lot of work. The suspension bushings go out, trannys grind 5th, engine harnesses are brittle, boost problems... the list goes on. You either buy an FD for cheap and spend a lot of money on it or you get one for $15k and spend a lot on it. Theres no way around it.

it is a 5-speed, forgot to mention. the only thing is, i already have a nice low(er) mileage fd. in buying this other car, i would probably just put the basic mods on and sell to try and justify some of the money i've already thrown into mine
i'll have most of them once i put a single on my car in the next month or so.
