Question glowing DP at start-up

Tried searching, however, the search is apparently disabled....
Just started my 93, within one minute of start up the DP was bright RED -absolutely glowing. I'd never seen this before. FWITW, the idle has been running a little high the last few weeks....

Is this syptomatic of a clogged main cat? Any other ideas or suggestions?

TIA

i'd say clogged cat. Do you feel excessive heat in the interior, near the passenger footwell as well?

get yourself a DP.

Wink

I do have a DP - that is what's glowing :o)!
I've got the usual mods ECU, Catback, intake, DP. When I started the car this evening there was some pretty harsh gas/exhaust smells...I checked under the hood and the DP was glowing BRIGHT red within a minute or so of start-up. I tapped the throttle a couple of times to try and bring the idle down and she popped pretty loud a couple of times (more-so than normal!)

Cheers,
GEB

Yeah I would say clogged main cat. Get yourself a high flow or go with a midpipe as soon as possible. I would risk it 'cuse you can blow a seal from the excesive backpressure I believe.

And don't drive it unless you want some excitement with an A-B-C class fire extinguisher.

Well,
I took her out for a run last night and this evening. She is still making full boost (gott luv that cold air;o).

My understanding was that a clogged cat would also limit that amount of boost being produced...? Interestingly enough, the DP was not so bright red after running it hard out on the freeway for 20 minutes. Am I just over-reacting to the AWS trying to bring the engine up to idle in a hurry when started cold? I always try to blip the throttle when starting her cold (to take the high AWS idle out of the equation when warming the car up).

As always, your input is appreciated!

Regards,
GEB
