Question Gaugepod Recomend?

Hey guys, I was wondering any recommendations on which gauge pod (gauge holder) to buy? For now I just am getting a defi boost gauge but more than one spot in the pod is fine considering I will buy another in the future. I am curious what you think the nicest setup is (clear and not cluttering anything or in the way). Just let me know what you guys have, or have had and what you like or dislike. Thanks appreciate feedback (Pictures and links help).

Both are great pods, and if you search around, you'll find great reviews on both!

A pillar with SPA gauges. 2 gauges in one and it will save you space.

I haven't heard of anyone else having this problem, but when I had my boost gauge mounted on the A-Pillar, it really blocked my line of sight in that direction, to the point where I almost hit some people in a parking lot and there was no way I could successfully autocross...but I'm a girl and 5'4" so I imagine I sit a little closer than most of you guys.

Well, I bought the Tripower center speaker dual pod, but it only holds 52mm gauges and you lose the use of that speaker- I was getting Defi BF gauges and they're 60 mm's. But, the GOOD thing about that location is that it doesn't block any vision field at all.

Soooo...I have the ATI (Auto Tech Interiors) ePod piece which holds two gauges, EITHER 52 or 60 mm, that mounts on the center channel speaker, but doesn't require you to lose use of the speaker (it just replaces the speaker cover). And you can swivel the gauge holders to your exact liking, they then lock into place. Their website is www.autotechinteriors.com, but they're updating it right now and do not yet have a picture of the pod on there. I'll post one...

Sweet! I've seen that Epod and thought it was pretty dope. That will be cool if they have an RX-7 application.

Pics! Pics!

Also, how much?

To the original poster - I'm running the Tripower dual gauge center speaker pod and have been VERY happy with it. The design, fit, and finish of the pod is exceptional.

Here's my review and plenty o' pics of the Tripower pod -

And, of course you post the pic as I'm writing my reply...

Does it clip into the speaker grille like stock? How do the wires to the gauges run?

It is really nice...extremely well made. Of course they have an RX-7 application- it's in my car, lol! I'm not sure of the price, but I am quite sure it's less than the Tripower piece. You'd have to give them a call, the number's on the website.

I've seen plenty of people complain of the same. It really comes down to height and seat position. I have the seat so far back that the gauges are in line w/ the A-pillar from my vantage point. No obstruction whatsoever.

Yes, it clips in very easily and neatly. The stock grill comes off and it replaces it. The wires run through the back of the gauge pods and right down through an opening in the base. Stealth-like, of course.

just a quick question, what's the colour of your defi-BF? red or white? I'm thinking to get 2nd hand white colour but then the FD's interior lightnings are red....

I have the red/amber ones in my MB FD, and the white ones in my black FD. My MB is mostly stock, and so the red ones really match well. But in my black FD, I have the Commander, a head unit, a dash-mounted AVC-R, etc so I went with the white ones b/c it's not so monochrome in there anymore.

Great input! Thanks
Btw, have you got a pic of your polychromatic colour of your interior? I still can't imagine how it would look like. (not a good imaginator :p)

Thanks again

The one Sexy is using keeps it. None of them actually "remove" it per say, since the speaker actually sits deep down in the dash. It's not on the surface IIRC). So you can still replace the speaker grill w/ any gauge pod, but I'd imagine sound from that speaker would be pretty crappy, making it pretty much useless.

I have Frank's (FlyRX7) center speaker gauge pod, and it's the best one IMO. But it covers the entire speaker grill. I've contemplated making slits in it to try and allow both the pod and a speaker to function beneath it, but I doubt it'll be worth the effort...(for what minimal sound gain - if any - I'd get).

EDIT: In fact, I have NEVER heard the center speaker in an FD. All the FDs I've been in, the center doesn't work or has been disconnected, so I'm real curious how it sounds/aids the front sound stage

Mine actually works well I was listening to it today. Do you suggest I just purchase it and place custom slits in it? I really dont like The column pods its too flashy and seems annoying there.
