Question Brake pad recomendations for street??

Hey all,

What would you folks recomend as far as a good 90% spirited street/ 10% track brake pad? Someone mentioned "EBC Green" pads. Low brake dust would be nice

What do you guys use, have used, or want to try??

Who's the best for my needs?

Thanks,

-sONic-

I find no pad good for both street and road course. I use Hawk Blues for the track and stock pads for the street. Pads are simple to change.

Hawk HP+...they won't eat your brake rotors.

I went with Hawk HPS, they were $39 a set from www.nipponpower.com

Are Hawk HPS rotor friendly?

I'm running the z rated pads from performance friction. I dont' have any experience w/ the Hawk's, but they're worlds better than stock, and seem to do just fine. I've never taken the 7 to the track though, so check around some more.

Some just found the best price on the Hawk pads (HPS and HP+) at $40 a set. It's sold at tirerack.com.

I'm using the Hawk HPS's and I get a lot of brake dust and they squeel when they're warmed up. Is it just me?

I recently installed a full set of EBC greens and am 100% happy.
1. zero noise
2. no dust
3. good fit
4. they feel similar to the stocks on tip in, but when you start applying more pressure they seem to bit harder.

there are two downsides
1. they aren't cheap
2. good luck finding the rear pads!

I've driven cars with the hawk hps and the ebcs feel comparable without all the side effects. I haven't had them on the track so I can't offer you any input there.

-Chris C (wishing he had ebcs last month when he got an 8 point ticket

The important things with street driving is performance which is very different from track brakes. Track brakes require some heat to get them grabby. Street brakes need to be at max grip when you need them. Stock pads are great, but the HPS or plus are good for the street.

Be careful because some racing brakes love to eat rotors. Racing beat has a good explanation.

Anyone have an opinion on Axxis Metal Master pads?
http://www.powerstopbrakes.com
A reputable So Cal tuner recommended them to me.
I bought a set but have not installed them yet.
They were only $80 for all four corners.

I have EBC greens front and rear. Work great for street use and also seem to love the heat. After they get hot(hard fast stop), they brake even better. Some say the Yellows(require more heat) even work good on the street.
