Question Fuel Pressure Regulator?

Hi guys, my car is in the shop and was told that my fuel pressure regulator and solenoid was out. I was wondering if I should get a stock one or upgrade. I only have base mods and dont plan any major upgrades. Mazda wants $140 dollars for the regulator. Does anyone know if there is a cheaper price? Would it be worth it to get an upgraded one?

You can try:

Malloy Mazda
1-888-533-3400
Talk to Ray Crowe

His prices are usually very good.

However, there are some good reasons to go with an aftermarket FPR. I would and probably will in the next month or so.

Some of the aftermarket FPR also have dampening built in. That means you can just run the aftermarket FPR and remove the Fuel Pulsation Damper from the car (which is what I plan on doing). Most of the aftermarket FPR are Rising Rate however you can just set it to the stock 1:1 and not worry about it.

SX, Aeromotive, and most of the other adjustables are not RRFPRs. They are all 1:1, which is not "rising rate". Most of the aftermarket regulators are NOT RRFPRs.

You can get RRFPRs, of course, but it unlikely that you would get one by accident. Most of them have a distinct look (big and round), so they are pretty easy to identify.
