Fuel Injection Cleaner?

I was wondering if anyone has used the STP fuel injector cleaner, because I think mine may be fouled up. Is this ok to use with the FD? Has anyone used this before, if not STP then is there another type I should use?

Thanks.

STP is useless. The only one I've found to work after trying 4-5 different brands is the Techron, not the ProGard, which is cheaper. A bottle is usually about $6-7. The 99 cent ones are just useless.

I second the Techron. I run the K&N cleanable element fuel filter (mounted in the engine bay) and clean it every 2000 miles. It's COVERED in this goldish junk. I tried many different cleaners, but only the Techron really got the element clean. I attach a "dirty" filter pic here...

BG 44k is a professional strength injector cleaner. Highly recommended by a very good rotary mechanic. You can find it on-line for about $18. Not available in very many parts stores.

I've tossed in bottle of Techron in a full tank of gas in all my vehicles (work and personal) once a year for the past 10 years and run it down close to empty before an oil change. I've never had any injector or fuel related problems even though my FD3S sits for 3 months each summer and my work vehicles often sit for a month unused. I also keep them fully gassed when they are parked for an extended time. Unlike almost all "additives" I think it's a good product worth the money.

I am NOT a fan of ANY STP products. Andy Granatelli can kiss my *** if he is still alive - it falls in the same arena as Magnacor wires and Slick 50. Pure overpriced marketing hype.

Why do I put it in before an oil change? I guess I just like the idea of it doing it's thing and then outta there....

I've been using an AMSOIL product for years. P.I. Performance Improver Gasoline Additive.

Ive never had any fuel related problems. I've just started using it on my FD. I run it one tank then MMO the next few tanks. The PI product does contain a lubricant.

Well I went with the BG 44K stuff, because I am really worried about my fuel system. But thank you very much for all the input!
