first upgrades....

do you guys agree with getting,
down pipe
new muffler
fuel pump.
those would be the mods the shop in town suggested for "level 1".
i thought a fuel pump would come later, or at least when boost is pumped up. also another question that i have is when you get a midpipe, can you get ride of that damn airpump thingy. i haven't figured out what it does yet... something to do with emissions???? any help is appreciated. if you have any suggestions on what i should get first, please go ahead and suggest.. thx

I suggest you upgrade your ECU first, since it sounds like you'll be planning a lot of upgrades in the future.....The stock ECU is limited to only 14psi I believe.....Oh and you should think about getting a turbo timer too...it always the little things that count.

Reliability mods first - AST, Fan Mod, Vacumn hose upgrade, etc..

First mods - DP, Intake, CB
Second mods - ECU, MP, Fuel Pump, I/C

With a MP you can remove the Air pump but you must have a smaler belt to fit around the two remaining pulleys. Soem use a 25" 5 rib belt while others need a 24". You must have a belt before you remove the Airpump. You will only save 9lbs w/o it. You will never pass emmissions w/o it and a Cat. Do you care?

Don't we wish

Don't waste your time on a turbo timer...and somebody forgot to mention boost/temp gauges...sheesh c'mon guys, we don't want another one chalked up under the "rx 7 unreliability" heading.

ECU before MP.

Start off with DP and AST, then go to intake and CB, and then ECU before anything else.

The stock rubber vaccum hoses start to get stiff, brittle, and crack due to the heat that the rotary engine puts out. It does not matter what boost level you are running.

I did:
dp
boost & water temp gauges
turbotimer (hate waiting around in the car)
fluidyne radiator
ECU
cat back
hi flow cat
intake
springs
clutch & flywheel
shifter
and some other stuff here and there but you get the idea. I did not do the hose upgrade bc my engine was put in 6k miles ago with new hoses so I am taken care of there for now

I totally agree w/ this step order. TEMP GAUGE=highly recommended. Stock one very unreliably and is always on normal operating temp.
