my new fc vert --
i have recently purchased a 1990 rx-7 convertible -- unfortunantly i am 17 and for legal reasons will not have a drivers license until i am 18
but only 58 more days!!! that gives me about 50 days to fix this car up for as cheaply as possible -- lol - after i get some more money in the bank then i can start on the real upgrades....
anyway managed to pick it up with 81k miles on it, engine is in GREAT condition all new seals and belts and **** like that, 17 inch wheels (dont know what brand), is going to need new brakes and suspension as they are still stock and 15 years old(right?! anybody have any information on this?)
the stock stereo still works (headrest speakers too) but crackles at higher volumes... that will need fixing too -- i found the thread on this topic and if anyone has successfully installed an aftermarket stereo into the vert could they tel me the set up?
i was somewhat dissapointed to find out that the convertible tips the scales at a beefy 3000 lbs
does anyone have some tips on reducing that weight w/out ditching the targa top and convertible?
i may have paid a few hundred more than what i should have... but thats ok its kinda hard to find a car like this in CO
here are some pictures:
there are many more -- but im too lazy to post them at the current time. -- tell me what you think?

dam that looks nice, I love putting the boot over the top when it's down, makes it look alot better. As for being so heavy, it is kind of slow. You could swap a 13bt into it, which take my word for it, makes the car really come alive. But being as how it probably runs perfect, I'd just do bolt-on mods.

i agree with you on the not swapping anything into it yet -- but i would LOVE to have a turbo...
For what its worth, the floor mats are on the wrong sides and reversed. You are lucky the mat on the passenger side is in reasonably good condition. Can't see the driver's side. Anyway. The RX7 should be on the floor along the door rail. The wide end goes on the floor and the narrow up under the dash.
