Thumbs up

I'll be in the group buy, but it would have to be after the holidays.

Guys, before you jump in with H3R, check out Kanasa Fire Equipment Co. @ 1-800-262-8943 they sell on an e-bay store but I have had great success and good pricing with them on Halon extinguishers.

That said, i will join your group buy for a 2.5# C352TS w/ double metal strap if you are cheaper than $120 inc/ shipping

Julian, I searched Ebay and Googled 'em...couldn't find anything solid. Kinda wanna read about an actual company before I drop any dough in 'em. Reason being, I know how crazy it is to feel responsible for hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars of forum members' money... In the 3rd gen floormat w/ RX7 logo Group Buy I started a few months back, I almost had a heart attack when Anne lost her internet service for a few days, and I couldn't get ahold of her lol...it happened right after I had mailed in the payment too! So yea...gotta be real careful and thorough when it comes to group buys, cuz it's on MY shoulders

That's basically the same as the B355T we're looking at getting, but half the size. You sure you want something THAT small? It won't last long...

As for an update, I just spoke w/ Chris from H3R today...and apparently someone already called him and bought one from him Long story short, he doesn't have any new B355T's in stock; they'll be coming in in January. He has refurbished ones in stock, same warranty, etc... But yea, so on the B355T, we'll get a 10% flat discount for a set amount of time (a week or so), which translates to about $20 off the $200 (new) unit. So about $180 a pop.

Shipping (because it's a hazardous material) is $25 a pop for the 5 lb extinguishers (such as the B355T we're interested in). And Julian, for your 2.5 lb bottle, shipping is $20. They WILL combine multiple orders to save you shipping, so if you're buying more than one extinguisher, call them, and they'll give you a more accurate (read: cheaper) shipping quote.

The promotion is actually going on right now until December 20th... and we can get it again in January when the new B355T units arrive.

To take advantage of the promotion, go to: www.h3r.com/products/home_vehicle.htm

- Select the product(s) you want to buy
- Click on the "Checkout" button
- Click on the "Redeem Coupon" link
- Type "RX7" in the "Offer number" field
- Click on the "Redeem Coupon" button.

As you can see, the offer is open-ended (on the extinguisher of your choice). He's really only trying to do this now (until the 20th of December), but since the new 5lb B355Ts aren't in stock, he'll renew the promotion ON THE B355Ts ONLY in January when those units arrive.

Hope this is up to ppl's expectations..

Thanks!
~Ramy

I concur with your reasoning, H3R is reliable and was suggested by my pilots.. I had not problem with Kansas Fire Equipment a year ago on a few hundred dollar purchase, but last year is no guarantee of performance this year.

I only picked the C352TS 2.5# for reasons of rules minimum weight, low overall gross weight of extinguisher and twin strap bracket, my view of a portable is to get myself out of the car not save the car.. Actually the A1600 is a good compromise; 3.5 lbs Halon, 14-16 sec discharge time and only 5+ lbs total weight. Both the C352TS and B355T have a 10 sec discharge time that means the wand may be lost in the wrong place to really put out the fire

I guess this is pretty much common sense but just as a reminder. Some FE's have expire dates on them. If you dont use your FE. Cool... Now replace it if its old

You haven't been around very long, huh? It's not uncommon to read about FD's being burned to the ground, or having engine fires. It happens quite often actually. In fact, one of the recalls on the car are to fix a problem w/ the fuel line that caused engine fires IIRC.

Feel free to put it up for sale, cuz the facts won't change. We're not rocking extinguishers cuz it's cool; it's cuz the danger is real, and the chances are high.

I agree!

Engine fires are NOT uncommon on older cars. In the last month, I've seen THREE cars burning on the side of the road.

So the pertinent questions are:

How much do you value your car? Will your insurance cover the loss if it burns? And even if it does, how about all the work you put into it that won't be covered?

If the answers to these say let it burn, no problem, then you don't need an extinguisher.

However, for most of us, having the car burn would be a HUGE loss! THAT'S why we carry extinguishers.

BTW, I just (edit) tried to order (edit) one of the reconditioned B355T's from H&R - that's a great deal! (edit) their system was screwed up and I couldn't order on line (edit)

Then there are those of us (most) who have run their cars 128-130K miles with no problems. But there had been more than a few who have lit up!

I'm sure. But I think it's safe to say there are a LOT more cars on this forum than most that have caught fire and burned to the ground to leave us comfortable to drive w/o an extinguisher.

Dave, glad the site worked for you (kinda) lol.

Didn't mean to say not to have one. I have one in each of my cars, all Amerex halon units, even the ones that don't have a rep for becoming burnt toast.
