finallly did it!

first off it you guys feel the need to flame, go right ahead. but i just had to let it be known that i was very successfull at my first atemp of pullin my engine out of my car, and then stripping it down to just the block. i have been lookin foward to gettin it out for awhile now and finally found the time today. it was so awsome to get everything off the engine and see the core with nothing on it. while working i wasnt happy when i came across a couple of electrical connectors that were already broken and a couple vacuum lines that werent attached to anything. i think it was the jack *** that worked on the car before i owned it that also used the OIL PAN to jack the car up, cause my oil pan is smashed in at the bottom of it(and i wonder why i refuse to let anyone touch my car unless its something i cant do, and thats paint and weld). well i want to thank all you guys that have contributed all your priceless knowledge to this fourm cause without it i would of never made it, lol. and last i need to strongly recommend bruce turrentines thrid gen R&R video, i think it should be made mandatory for every FD owner to have! next on the list: tear down the block, cant wait!!!

I pulled mine out for the hell of it yesterday (well, actually to change the trans) but nonetheless congrats... now the fun part is figuring out what not to put back in the engine bay (I've had one instance where the trash truck wouldn't pick up my can because it was too heavy)

the only problem i had getting it out was with the downpipe. what i did was i first disconnected it from the cat and then what gave me the problem was that bracket that wrapes around the downpipe and then attaches to the bellhousing. i tired to get around messing with that rusted *** bolt that holds the bracket onto the downpipe and just took out the two bolts that hold the bracket to the bellhousing. well that wasnt a bad idea until i tried pullin it out cause the bracket was catching on the bellhousing and it took me a couple minutes before i figured out that it was holdin me up. so then i just took that bolt off and totally removed that bracket and out it came. everything else went pretty smooth, well the top two bellhousing bolts were a bitch but thats cause there in a bad spot to get to.

It probably would've been an easier pull had the DP been taken off ??

yea it prolly would of been but i was using bruce turrentines R&R video as a helpful guide. and the way he did it was totally removed the motor mount thats under the downpipe so the downpipe could find its way out. as soon as i removed that bracket it came right out, but yea i could of just just moved the dp, either way works though.
