A few tuning questions
Greetings,
I'm wondering:
What's the biggest/best oil filter I can get for my FD? I still use the original size, and I'm thinking I should upgrade.
Is "Dexcool" (sp?) coolant suitable for RX-7s? I got this as an hit from a buddy of mine, but he's a V8 freak and knows this stuff isn't suitable for all motors.
Would it do any good to do some kind of 02 sensor conversion to a 2 or 3 wire sensor with the stock ECU? Would installing a power FC change the answer?
Thanks

AFAIK, the stock oil filter is more than effective up to quite a high level of tuning. So unless you're running a big single with tons of boost, your stock oil filter should be fine.
Don't know anything abotu Dexcool.
If you're considering getting a Wideband O2 sensor, it would need to be in additition the stock O2 sensor. Both the stock ECU and the PFC read voltages from the stock 2-wire, so you can't change that. But having a standalone (for lack of a better word) wideband with its own display is always a good idea, both for tuning and general safety.

Stock 2-wire...? I'll have to re-check, but yesterday I remember asking myself "why do I only have 1-wire?"
I know for a fact the O2 sensor was changed, perhaps it was changed to a 1-wire when it should've been 2
Obviously, the 2-wire makes much more sense.
As for the oil filter, I just use my own logic : bigger is better That's why I'm wondering.
Thanks guys, I hope more people can give their input on this! Especially on the dexcool.

"Evaluations of the two technologies to compare their respective service lives has found them comparable. In fact, a Ford Motor Company study concluded that organic acid coolants do not offer any significant advantages for the consumer over current North American coolants."
Just use some regular coolant mix with distilled water and something like Purple Ice.

mr.zoom do,you have a part number of the bigger oil filter? I know for sure if I ask my dealer for it without a PN he will give me the "WTF R you talking about" look. hell he even walked around the car went I first drove up there asking what brand it was. That's the counterpart on having a car of which only 10 are in your country
Thanks
anyone got some recommandations towards Oil specs, coolants aso. I live in Europe so we don't have everything like you guys do.

So it looks like it's a for the dexcool stuff.
I'd still like more input on the oil filter and O2 sensor though.
And, if anyone knows about the OMP, I have an ongoing problem I can't really figure out : the oil metering pump position sensor code has came on. So, technically, I have a problem with the OMP, but my car isn't running in limp mode as it should in such a case. I'm trying to figure out what I should do with this. Where should I start my troubleshooting? Is there a sensor of some sort I should check since the code says OMP position "sensor"?
thanks

A lot of people, or some, use the 2nd gen filter. They say it fits and is larger. I think it also has the anti-drainback valve. The only issue is it is tighter, clearance wise fitting it on.
