A few trix from the man....

MakoDHardie took the liberty of polishing my Lower intake manifold....and while he was at it he also decided to add a little luster to my ABS heat shield. DAVE IS THE MAN!!! Check out these pictures. I think it looks awesome!!

DAYAAAMN!
That is very nice work. The LIM is a very tedious job, alot of different contours. $?

Well, for me it was a big goose egg...but I told him if he made my LIM bling then we would be even for the $150 he owed me.

The LIM took a long long time. I took most of the finish off with a wire brush on a buffing wheel and then staged through the different sanding grits by hand. A drill would have been much easier to use for the sanding part, but I was busy concentrating on all the stupid contours the thing has in it. The vacuum hose nipples are a big pain to get around and removing the studs would make it easier to get the manifold up closer to the buffing wheel. I ended up getting a $17 tungsten carbide dremel bit to grind down inside the pockets at the bottom of the manifold. I would say this is probably the most difficult piece in the engine to polish...that I can think of. I spent on and off time over three days finishing it. With proper sanding tools, I believe a day would get it done. I'll be doing plenty of my own parts this week, but I would be willing to perform the service for you fellow members since its wonderful summer time and I have a little more time on my hands. I'd have to decide on some pricing for parts first though since it does require a significant amount of resources, and tedious effort for prolonged periods of time to accomplish. If anyone is interested in having parts polished, just post in this thread or pm me and we'll work out some deals. Thanks for the comments.

Very very nice. Do you need a buffing wheel, you know ones Eastwood sell to do this?
