Who all owns the Mazda Trix full Exhaust/header?

This 85 GSL that I am coinsidering to buy has the full Mazda Trix exhaust with a Stainless Steel header...Its the unit that has the 2 pipes after the header for seprate/dual presilencers back to the muffler.
This car seemed so quiet, does anyone know if the presilencers are packed with steel wool? Has anyone ever removed it? Can you?
Is the cat replacement pipe a direct bolt in replacement for those presilencers? I might get that to help improve flow.
I think it could be fine being louder & more free flowing. It seemed as quiet as stock? Is that how is should be?
Thanks much for all replies!

Look it up on Racing Beat's website. "street port exhaust". Same thing. It is sectional. Header, dual presilencers, rear muffler.

It's louder than stock but quite reasonable noise and good power gain. If you want more HP replace the rear muffler with a 2.5" Magnaflow straight thru muffler. Motor revs better and makes noticeably more power with the Magnaflow.

it's not *that* much louder than stock - quite a nice note, actually and the Racing Beat Power Pulse muffler will last forever. Mine's a year old with virtually no change in muffling ability nor any wear.

Yeah, I have the normal exhaust, not the street port, but it uses the power pulse muffler. Sounds awesome. One of my friends has the streetport system on his rex, and it sounds pretty much the same. It's not that much louder, but it's deeper and throatier. You can definitely hear a difference when you stomp on it though.

I have it also, and it's DA BEST $ can buy!. I love the exhaust notes. Doesn't sound like a fart can at all. Worth the $ definately for a rotorhead.

Not cheap, especially delivered, but the best thing I ever did to my car. I was getting a little tired of it, now it's lots more fun to drive. Put a couple igniters back there and you could really shoot some flames w/all the hydrocarbons flying out the back... Thanks, DriveFast7, now I have to look for a new muffler...

Yep, thats what I thought, this exhaust is very well liked, but it was seemingly very mufflied in this car I test drove (85 RX-7 GSL)
I suspect the car has other issues as to why its not up to par with where it should be performance wise. It's just so sweet & clean I need to find out whats up with it. Hmmmm?

I have the street port RB exhaust, and sound is perfect. It's not too noisy, so I don't get a headache when driving long distances. And it's not too muffled, so I do know the engine is on. I love the sound of the exhaust when flooring the pedal. As for power, I believe the RB exhausts are VERY good investments (Mazdatrix are just the same, so...), and they are reliable. Never put on cheap crap, they won't last and cost more in the end.

as far as i know RB mufflers have a valve inside that openes up when you floor it so it gives you better torque and quets it down when driving regularly.

Alright, who knows the truth about these mufflers? The one that came w/my Mazdatrix system seemed pretty heavy and says C.S.C.-made in Italy on it. I love the sound, but am always looking for more horsepower, especially since I put heavier wheels/tires on it...

Is there a better muffler that I should be using?

Yep, thats what this one says : CSC Italy...
I am not concerned really with the muller, its these dual presilencers...Are they packed with steel wool? Can it be removed? This thing is quiet as stock? And seems slower then stock too?

You must have a different problem w/your Rex, mine is definitely louder than stock. Much faster, too...

I don't know what the pre-silencers are packed with, maybe you could call Mazdatrix or RB and ask them?
