a few HP questions....

ok ive got a few questions i hope people can answer:

1. Clutch recomendations: What clutch would you run for 320-380 HP? What clutch would you run for up to 550HP? id like to get one clutch and not have to upgrade after i do my turbo mod. but im guessing that one clutch wont be the best choice for both those HP numbers.

2. What is the max. boost you would run on 91 octane gas (i think thats as high as it gets in CA... except for this one 76 station that carries 102 for $4/gallon...no thanks).

3. What would you recomend for rear tire sizes to keep traction at the two HP figures listed above. By the way...anyone know the widest tire you can squeeze in there w/ out rolling the fenders?

Thanks, heath

When you get 550hp at the wheels, let everyone know.

eveyone i know runs 15-17 psi (stock twins) on gold gas

Ive got 285's on my rears. They barely stick out of the wheel well, anymore than that would look like ****

1) ACT or RPS street/strip clutch will do, at least it has for me and I would guess I am around 330rwhp or so. 2) It depends on your mods more so than your gas rating on what kind of boost would be safe to run(although the octane rating does come into play) so why dont you tell us what you all have done first.

i will definately let everone know this is a 20b by the way so im one step closer, but i need to have BNR do my turbos, and a few other things before i will make 550.

so 17psi is safe with 91 octane and no worries about detonation whatsoever?

The fastest Rx7 in the world uses a 13B motor. They can make plent of power and are not plagued with eccentric shaft problems like the 20B. Personally I wouldnt run that sort of boost on stock

ok im installing a 20b... the car currently has the pettit duals cat back, i will be doing a coustom intake, Greddy 3 row front mount... then later after its running moddified RE Amemiya ECU for up to 16PSI, and have BNR do my turbos (stage 2 or 3). about your ACT clutch... how much different does it feel compared to the stock one? i imagine its somewhat harder to engage?

OndeOlav: i know the fastest 7 uses the 13b... i didnt want to even bring up the 20b cause i knew everyone would get on my *** about it. basically id like my car to make relatively good HP numbers but have it still be drivable. i dont want a 1500 RPM idle or the brap brap brap sound. also, i cant imagine a high HP 13b will last very long compared to a 20b putting down the same hp... the 20b is simply under less stress per rotor. i dont know...thats kind of my rationale for the 20b. i know a 13b can do it, but i feel like its pushing that motor too hard. heath

Actually I dont really remember there being a big difference in clutch feel. I installed it 2 summers ago though so I can't remember exactly but I can tell you that its not hard to engage at all so I imagine it's not much different than stock.
