BrianK,

Could you be getting an extra helping of rattling because of worn motor mounts? I think mine are pretty much shot, and I should be getting my stiff brace this week. I'll let you know if it rattles.

hmm... I hadn't thought about that. However, the rattling sound is deffinitely coming from the brace itself.

the rattle, on my car, would happen when the engine was warm and I had a load on the alternator (like the fans on three or lights on).

Hey SPEED_NYC, can post some pics of the area you needed to adapt with washers in order to get it to fit a US spec car.

Ok just for some info....
ALL the shock absorbed torque braces are the same.
The prices on my web page include shipping. I was
going to sell HPI, but not anymore... However I can get
them threw a friend of the president of the company now, but I dont prefer it.. I have the AXIA sports, version. To be perfectly honest, they are all the same, except the HPI is red. The rest are green, thats the only difference. Im working on getting all of my FEED products at a better price, then I will lower them. Then the FEED one will be the cheapest...... If you need a little help on the price, you can always e-mail me. Also if you buy something else, besides just the torque brace then we can definatly help you out.

However, my mechanic has the solid one, he had no problems. I cant say that there is a difference between them, but I have the Green shock style. Check www.rx7store.net for the solid style... I heard they are pretty cheap too...

the solid ones can do funky stuff if engien mounts aren't right. however, I have also found that it can cure the problem of a blown engien mount as well. before I replced my engine I had a worn engine mount on driver's side. I just adjusted the bar for this, and it tightened it up like hell.

the previous post was on, you may always get some clunking with solid bars when launching, but shoudln't be andy clanking at idle if all is okay. It is possible to feel some vibrations, although, I didn't notice any on mine. Also as a further note. Not all solid braces are the same, some have plastic races and some steel. I hav found the plastic ones to not vibrate at all, but they wear out quickly with a few launches and quickly deteriote.

I have been testing a shock type on my car, and have noticed it doesn't help with 3rd gear shifts as much, the feel is great just like the advantages of going with any torue brace, but with big horsepower and quick delivery it compresses too much, just like the stock mounts. I am experimenting ith stiffer shocks and will see what the outcome is.

Also, for those of you with th solid types, just load up the driver's side mount and all the vibratiosn will disappear. it is when the setting is neutral that damage and vibration occures, although clunk may happen on any sudden jerk on and off the throttle.

Some guys and rubber eveywhere on mounting brackets, which effectively acts like a dampner, but to me this defeats the purpose of purchasing it in the first place. HPI is nice, and so are th solid ones, just depends on what your preferences are.
