FD3S right-hand to left-hand drive conversion
A very close friend of mine is thinking of buying an S8 FD3S (1999-2002) which were only JDM, so right-hand drive. In Greece -like most of the world- we drive left-hand drive cars.
Can anyone tell me what is needed for this conversion or where can I find a good place to read about it?
Has anyone done this before?
Can you give me any logical suggestions?

P.S. I have already searched...

okay okay....I changed some things. Theres just been a LOT of posts lately about this. Try searching more common terms such as RHD, LHD, Convert in the future. Sometimes I forget that this section isn't the Lounge.
Your search terms were too specific. You'll get better results with "RHD conversion" or "JDM conversion"

Yes, most FD3S guys in the 'states are a bit touchy about the subject. It's partly because it's asked at least monthly,
...and usually by people who don't possess the time or skills to pull such a difficult conversion off. And even if an American could convert the RHD >> LHD, we've got to deal with other issues including emissions & impact testing. There is no legal way that is commonly known that would enable us to legally drive a Spirit R on U.S. highways.

The RHD and LHD firewalls are different. I don't know exactly HOW different they are but it is a little more than a couple holes for steering/brakes etc.
Of course it can be done, it is a little harder than bolting parts from one car to another.

it's damn easy to drive a RHD car in a country where everyone else drives LHD. last summer, i delivered mail for the USPS, and ALL United States Postal Service vehicles are RHD, so it is easy to deliver to mounted boxes (boxes on posts). I had to go and take a 2 hour crash course in driving a RHD LLV (long life vehicle, the older ones with a much narrower front track), which are based off of an export-only version of the old '80's S10), and the FFV (flexible fuel vehicle, the new ones that are slowly replacing the LLV's, based on the export-only RHD Ford Explorer), and it was very easy to pick up driving a RHD vehicle, give it a shot before you try going through with the conversion.

nah, that is too messy, get a recriprocating saw
its just as fast but makes nicer cuts. if not, use a plasma cutter
the firewalls are almost exactly the same, you can just cut out the holes you need on the firewall for the steering rack brake booster......or swap the firewalls, you will need all LHD brake lines comming from the ABS unit and one from one for the clutch, AC lines and heater hoses steering rack and lines from it you also need to swap your winshield wiper system wiper arms motor and the bars that connect the wipers to the motor because the wiper motor is blocked by the brake booster, also throttle cable, hood latch cable, the wiring that goes to your fuse boxes will need to be extended and if you are thinking of getting a LHD front clip and using the wiring from it the RHD connectors that run to the back of the car dont match so thats going to be fun on top of all that you need a dashboard center console between seats all the smaller pieces like kick panels door panels and your hatch and gas door cable need to be switched, thats all i can remember now.
