I wanna see FD's in the $20s ONLY from now on!!! Lets actually try and help our cars mature in value!

I also checked on the NADA and KBB website and it's true. Our FD's have gone up in value.
We need to make a sticky that lets everyone know that they don't need to sell their FD's for pennies on the dollar.

Oh and FYI, NADA value is what most insurance companies goes by, and that's currently listing the highest market values for our cars

Today's the 31st, and no I'm dead serious. Go check www.kbb.com and www.nada.com. You should see that your FD's market value is *significantly* higher than what it was just a few years ago...

We should want the *market* to better appreciate the gem we own, and as thus, it's cost to increase considerably. You have NO IDEA how jealous I am of the Supra's market value...

Parts cost are inevitably increasing, simply due to the age of the car. As the car ages, parts get rarer, and stealerships want more for them. We're actually at the point that '94 and '95 parts are *actually* being discontinued. So it's inevitable and unavoidable, regardless of whether or not the value of the car goes up or down. Besides, c'mon now, how can you explain the FD's falling value over the past few years, yet the fog light switch went from $35 to $40 to $70 to $90, then up to $120??
As for insurance, contrary to popular belief, the value of the car is NOT the largest or most important factor for the insurance premium. Call up your insurance company, and tell them you have $30K in mods, and you want to insure them. I'd be surprised if they wanted more than $500 or so more per 6 months...I know, because I called and asked. They only wanted $200 more per 6 months. They are *much* more worried about a) expensive electronic parts that cost tons to replace in the event of even a minor accident (which is why German cars' insurance is through the roof), and b) medical and property insurance coverage. Replacing your $100,000 car is cake compared to the $4 million lawsuit they get hit for when you injure or kill someone.
Talk to your local insurance agent. You'd be surprised at what you learn

Independent agents don't get a discount from the company by insuring themselves. They can save some money (insuring themselves) by not paying another agents commissions. Agent commissions generally run between 10-15% on car insurance.
Ramy, no one gets liability insurance for $4 million

Adam! I was wondering how long it would take to see ya pop up... Mention of insurance w/o Adam seems so...incomplete
That sucks (that you don't get it for free or a considerable discount). I coulda sworn though that I've read so and so gets this incredibly dirt-cheap premium b/c their wife works for so and so auto insurance company etc...?
Adam, I wasn't referring to liability. Sheesh...who carries liability only? Heck, I'd venture to say who's *dumb* enough to carry liability only on a car, ESP. an FD? I was referring to comprehensive coverage...and I'm sure you're familiar there are much larger coverages available, such as umbrella policies, with *millions* of dollars of coverage when it comes to suits, various tort options, etc etc.

development
nada says my 95 is worth $16.1k and kbb says $16.2k
with less than 500 in the USA...to me its worth way more than that and I've had offers almost twice that and considering two friends sold there 93's for $19k and $24k (non seq and single, respectively)...not that I'd ever sell.
