Question FD Manual Windows

So, Ive never seen of manual windows on an FD. Ive got a 94 and it has power. Everyone I know has power.

I wanted to swap to manual but can't find any info about them. (If it were an option at all)

Can someone here correctly inform me on this?

And if they do have manual option, would anyone want to trade for power?

Simplicity and ease of mind. Power windows have been a pet peeve of mine in every car, manual are the way to go for me. I dont like the fact that they wont roll down if there is no power.

Aside from reasonably normal maintenance regarding the battery, how would power windows be less reliable than manual ones? As far as lack of function without power (specifically, ignition-switched power), have you considered rewiring them with the relay mod, but running a constant 12v wire into each door? That way, it's no longer dependent on the ignition switch.

There are no manual windows. I believe I recall reading in the Yamaguchi that the hand cranking mechanism somehow weighed more than power setup.

The monochromatic interior and materials on the FD already remind me a little too much of a 70's Plymouth. Crank windows would be the last straw. Given that it's electric windows seem to be generally reliable, this makes no sense IMO.

That is true of the NA Miata - a few autoxers considered converting, only to find the electric window mechanisms were lighter than the manual ones.

lmfao lukes Seriously though, I also remember hearing of some people try to convert in other cars and the mechanism was actually heavier. I'd had a bunch of 2nd gens where the crank broke off too.

I converted my FC TII to manual windows as I had a Base NA first and liked the manual windows more and they are lighter.

I weighed all the components and most of the weight savings were from switching the door interior panels as the manual ones have cardboard/cloth and the electric ones have plastic and sound deadening in there.

I bought my '08 Mazda3 brand new with manual windows.

I like manual windows.

I have seen several race FDs in Japan that do have manual window conversion and believe me it is weight reduction.

Here is a close up pic on a Ferrari to give you an idea of how to do it.
