another oil pan torque question

Hi
I have a problem with oil pan brace torque specs. First all I bought a gotham oil pan brace and having a hard time torqueing the nuts. specs say 79-104 but when I try to adjust the torque wrench at 70 I seam to strip the nut. my question is are you really suppose to tighten those 10mm nuts with that much torque? anyone had problems like that before?or I my doing something wrong?
thanks

You're going for in/lbs, correct?

The fsm says for 79-104 in/lbs, that's like 6.6-8.6 ft/lbs. If you're trying for 70 ft/lbs than, yes, you're doing something wrong

Yeah, sounds like you're using ft-lbs.
Try 8.9-11Nm

lol, this reminds me of something that might make you feel better as a novice.....
When I was about 13, I did my first brake job on drum brakes. Took both sides apart first and then had a helleva time remembering how things went back together. To compound matters, I decided to check to see if they'd work properly before putting the drums back on. Ehhh...it wasn't pretty.
