FD has been sitting for several years.. trying to get started!
Hi everyone. Been years since I've been on the boards. The FD has been sitting a long time.
Recently trying to get it started and running into some issues. Car was running perfectly prior to extended storage (several years).
I drained the old fuel and added 2 gallons of fresh. New spark plugs. New battery. I also added a bit of 2 stroke oil to each chamber and hand turned the e-shaft a few times.
Car cranks strong but no start. Pulled the plugs and they smell a bit of fuel so there is gas getting to the chambers (I also performed deflood procedure in between starting attempts just in case it got flooded from the attempt previous). Fuses are intact. I see no issues with hoses.
Do I need to add more 2 stroke and give it more cranks/spinning with the egi fuse removed? How do I best proceed. Thanks!

Fuel and no start at all?
Flooded or
Fouled plugs or
No spark or
No compression.
Usually with some oil in the chambers, assuming it ran when parked, should boost compression enough for it to at least puff and try.
I would start with investigating if you have spark with a spark plug tester.
It wouldn't hurt to check compression too to rule that out.

Appreciate the reply!
Well I found at least 1 connector/wire was chewed through by rats. Started taking off the UIM a bit tonight and will dig deeper tomorrow.
Also, the alarm went off intermittently 3 times in the span of 5 minutes.. sigh. Another system to diagnose.. maybe tackle it after it is started and running. I think it did do that once or twice previously years ago. The alarm system doesn't appear to be acting up when I'm trying to start the car. The security light turns off after I leave the key in ACC for a few seconds.
I'll do a quick compression check tomorrow.. it was definitely getting compression cycles when I was hand turning with the spark plugs out. I didn't verify if the puffs were coming from both rotors however.
But yes it looks like (one of the) main culprits of the non-start is damage to the wiring harness.

May take a bit more cranking to get the old fuel out of the system.
Once flooded once, the car is ever more sensitive to flooding, and your deflooding procedure needs to get more extreme.
Coils may show spark, but spark might not be strong enough.
Can we assume your car is a USDM LHD.
In any event check that your plugs are hooked up in the right order.
Make sure your battery remains charged up.

Also likely good to do a "smoke test". Your vacuum hoses may have turned to dust (or rat food).
Also be careful digging around under the UIM. If you start snapping off solenoid nipples, it is a downward slope, from there to an entire replacement of the rats nest.
Check your air intake. Maybe yon rats set up house in your airbox.
Are you getting any "check engine" signals at all?
Check if the rats chewed on your connecting wires for the CAS.

Will def check the CAS wiring as well once I get the UIM off and start poking around. Yes hopefully the solenoids are in good condition.
Edit: I went back outside (23 min past midnight here) and looked at the wire that is chewed off by the rat.. and it is the knock sensor wire.

I also drained the tank and blew out the fuel lines, but sitting in old fuel killed my fuel pump… it looked disintegrated and stopped running altogether. I put in the original stock pump and it started right up. Do you have fuel pressure?
