new problems with unflooding

i've unflooded my fd successfully 4 times the past year. can't get it to start up this time. btw i'm using stock ECU.

short version:

can't get the motor unflooded.
flood occurred after oil change, started fine once that night, in the morning won't start
already tried new plugs
battery has been tested and fully charged

long version:

my usual deflood procedure:

disconnect battery
pull EGI fuse
remove plugs
connect battery

crank motor 10 sec to shoot out excess fuel
let sit at least 30 min
crank motor 10 sec
let sit 2 hr while charging battery

install new 9 trailing 7 leading NGK plugs
crank 10 sec
pause 5 min
reinstall EGI
crank... and it starts.

if it doesn't start i pull the plugs again, crank out the excess fuel again, etc etc only before i reinstall the plugs i add some 2 stroke oil to the chamber to build up compression.

2 days prior to the flooding i noticed the car running like the plugs were starting to get fouled. decided to do some maintainence. so i changed the oil from 10-40 to 20-50, ran the car till warm, shut off, waited 5 min, checked oil level which was about 80% full. didn't have time to do the plugs so the next morning i start the car, notice its running like it has a flooded rotor, already late for class so i shut it off and take my other car. get home that afternoon, try to start and its flooded.

so, for the past week i've tried to start the car every other day and i can not get it to start.

what else to try?

have you tried putting ATF in the spark plug holes? Some people also try the WD-40 trick of squirting WD-40 in the - damn, can't remember where now - anyway, search WD-40...

i feel your pain. i tried for 10 days to unflood mine. of course, turned out, i had a cracked rotor housing at the plug holes, and hence a bad engine which needed a rebuild..but that's another story.

good luck.

Are you sure that the motor gets flooded by gas and not by COOLANT?

good point. it could be both since i have a small coolant seal leak. but its still its the first time i haven't been able to unflood ;(

i hate to bring this up, but that was my problem. As mentioned above, the housing was cracked at the plug holes. that was letting coolant in the chamber. I went so far as having it towed to a hill and trying to roll start. That didn't work. When the rollback tilted it to bring it back up, I would say over a quart of fuel and coolant poured out the exhaust pipe. Rebuild time. Shortly there after, I went LS1...

thank you for the help.

i tried all day to get it running but its still sitting in the garage.

i checked the coils, put in new plug wires, and new plugs. still nothing. i guess i might have to stop trying at some point and tear it down to build it back up. i've been waiting for this to happen for the past 8 months and it looks like this may be it.

i got it started today using standard deflooding. i didn't have time to work on the car for the past 2 weeks so it sat for the duration. i cranked it with EGI removed and plug holes open every 2 days.

so i started it in N shot up to 3k cold start and held for ~20 seconds. rpms then dropped to 1.2k. shooting white smoke and all.

i let it idle for 4 min, smoke diminished maybe to 5% of the original amount, but had a weird smell throughout. then i noticed the same(?) smoke coming out behind the turbo area. so i shut down. not sure what it smelled like but i haven't smelled it before, although i have seen white smoke come out of that area in previous defloods. any ideas? is it just an exhaust leak? or is it possible something is being fried there?(electronic etc).

edit: my first thought is that it smells like the 2 stroke oil i put into the chambers to build compression prior to starting, but does that take over 4 min to burn off?

area where smoke is coming from:
