broken down FD

Hi , I'm new to the forums,

I recently bought an FD . I drove it for a couple months then stored it in a shed.
when I came back to it, I connected the battery and it started first time. I was delighted. but since then I lost the shed and had no where to store the care but my drive, after a couple months I went to move the car but had no action.
I diagnosed it to be the old Clifford system in the car and got an autoelectrician to disconnect the system.
After disconnecting the car he started it twice without a problem and on the third it wouldn't start (I think he flooded the engine) I left it for a couple days and tried to start it again it will turn over but wont start. what would be the recommended thing to start stripping first? thanks!

#1 - do a search for flooding - there are numerous threads and posts on what to do. You will likely have to change the spark plugs - once fouled in a rotary, they have a VERY hard time cleaning up.

Yep you have flooded it big time.

TONS of info on this. I would get new plugs in there to be sure you are good.

General rule of thumb, don't shut the car down on a cold start without at LEAST a drive around the block. If the car won't drive, let it idle for 5-10 minutes before shut down.

Be sure to have a fully charged battery, and, if you're expecting extra cranking, put a booster pack on it while you're starting it. Slow cranking RPM facilitates flooding.

Leaving the car on a battery tender while not driving for a long period could be useful as well. I just recently completed the "Tesla Mod" a user posted a while back. The battery tender recommended on that thread has been great since the car does not get driven daily.

Can you post a link to this Tesla Mod thing?

Edit- never mind, found it..should have searched first, posted second..

I actually do this with a CTEK tender and their harness attached to the positive post of the main fuse box undehood. Car sits on the tender when not driving, the hood has to remain cracked open but that’s no big issue. I’m on the same AGM battery for the last 9 years with this, still tests and functions great although I’m thinking of replacing it just because of age.

And makes starting more difficult in any case, especially if the compression not as good as it was new.

I put new spark plugs in the car. cranked it over and it started up idled for about 5 seconds then cut off. i went to start it again and the same thing happened again. i pulled one of the plugs to check if they got wet but they were fine. i cranked it over with one plug out to see if it was getting petrol but there was no spray coming out of the plug hole. would this suggest its not getting fuel?
