Fd fuel level sending unit

Recently purchased a 93 that had been sitting for approx 10 years with a bout 1/8 of a tank of fuel. Needless to say the tank is rusted filler neck ( metal portion inside of tank ) is rusted and very little is salvageable. I have literally looked everywhere I can think of but I cannot find a level sensor. I have already purchased the radium engineering surge tank but still need a working level sensor.. any ideas? Miata? Other make model?

I just saw yesterday on the RX-7 Facebook group that someone was developing a replacement part, I'd check in to that.

Otherwise it's trying to find a good used one.

In theory some other sender could be used (like from another Mazda) but no one has spent the time to pioneer that effort.

The sender has 2 components, the arm that goes up and down that gives the fuel level and the round "can" on the end of a rod that lights up the Low Fuel light.

FD fuel pump assembly looks very similar to the NB Miatas. Looks like it can be bolted on? Wiring probably need to be splice and add a resistor or something to make it work with FD gauge. I may buy the Miata one to do some research. Just don't have time at the moment.

I also need to confirm on my FD where the fuel pump sending unit is located at. Looks like on FSM the sending unit is attached on top (on the cap). Meanwhile the JDM one quoted have the sending unit on the bottom.

interesting idea to try and use the miata parts, but the whole assembly won't work, the Rx7 is straight, like FDAuto's pic, the Miata is at an angle
neither come with the fuel level sender

the miata tank is kind of like a roller bag, its tall.

Look up "A. I. One Designs" on Facebook. No need to monkey around with anything else.
