FD Differential Weight?

Can anyone give me the weight of the entire rear differential, pumpkin and internals?

well i can lift a trani. and i cant lift a differential. so i am thinking 65-70 lb

That's a really poor method of making assumptions. There is no way it's that heavy.

Ihor, ask Sasha to weigh one at the shop, I'll bet he has one laying around.

i have one sitting in my garage, its the stock LSD plus the casing.... its quite heavy.... my guess would be around 70+ lbs

if no one posts actual weight by this weekend, i'll measure it it and post a update.

It's over 70 pounds since I was going to ship it to be rebuilt and the USPS scales go to 70 and it was over that amount. I think it's around 90 to 100 if I recall correctly. I ended up making a day trip to B'Ham to the guy who did my 4.33 install.

ill weigh it minus shims, bearings, and races tomorrow ( which will only add up to a pound or two at most)

Hell, my TII diff (just the pumpkin) weighed maybe 25 pounds. If the whole thing is 70 pounds, I might owe 87rx7girl an apology

I have taken two of them out recently and put 4.3 gears in both and I will tell you it weighs @ 80 lbs. Now this is dropping it off the subframe WITH the diffential bushing hanger still attached.

Let's recap.....after you remove the drive shaft and pull out the axles and it's free hanging by the two bushing bolts - be ready to cradle @ 80 lbs in your arms if you knock those two bolts out. Sumbitch is heavy.
