i think right now is a bad time to talk about the actual worth of any car
the economy is on its way back up, slowly but surely
but its still very low, its a buyers market...i think once the US economy stabilizes then this would be a more valid question
as for right now...everything is selling for peanuts because of the financial crisis

If we can assume that at least 30 have been crashed then there are now 300 of them. Some have been raced and destroyed (not many though), others have been lightly modified (put away your nos bottles children, i said lightly). So there are probably no more than 150-200 mint pristine examples left...maybe less because i'm not factoring in those that were just left to rot like normal old cars.
Conversely, the FD had a production run in the Thousands. Lets assume that after all this time theres maybe 50% of that number left...out of that 50% left, a cubic fuckton of them have been modded to the point that the average collector will never consider them collectible (fugly bodykit, other tacky elements or just beaten on/high mileage cars), many are used as race cars, and many have been crashed by owners or act of human stupidity; so what you're left with is the number of stock (ish) FD's (and those with the widely recognized as rare 20B swap).
That number is still probably in the 4 digits and I don't expect the car to see significant collectible value until they reach the point where it really is a struggle to buy one in good nick with low kms.
Prices may recover somewhat in the immediate future, but the only 25-30,000$ FD's out there will be the really immaculate ones.

an FD isn't a financial investment..... it's a resource to be used, preferably at your local track
Hell, the more I think about it.... an FD is about 180 degrees from the definition of 'investment'

It's hard to track prices on the FD since guys mod them and include the cost of those mods in the price of the car when it's put up for sale. No two cars are much alike so it's hard to compare. And you usually don't know the final sale price either.
My sense is the FD has never appreciated. It's just lost value slower than most. It won't appreciate in the forseeable future either.

This has been discussed alot. I think If it is going to be a collectable (which it will) it won't be for a long long time. By then, the cherry FDs will probably number in the extremely low double digits and the driven FDs won't ever be worth alot of money until even more time passes.

^^^^^^yup plus with the whole drift faze people are wrecking the crap out of FCs and now slowly moving into FDs.
Today there are only a handfull of FC3S in the US that are clean or tasefully moded because everyone is raping the hell out of them. I can see this happening to the FD in the next couple years as it losses value.
The only way we can help keep the FD's value up is keep em STOCK or tastefully MODIFY THE CRAP OUT OF IT! keep all the drift faze for 240s
