FC rotors in a FD.
ive found a good deal on a set of rotors and housings. $1000 for brand new FD ported housings, 88 rotors, and brand new 3mm racing seals. the rotors are from a 88 and are milled for 3mm seals. i dont really want to get into whats better 3mm or 2mm. im buying the parts because i already needed one rotor, rotor housing, and seals, and it seems like a good chance to get 2 new housings along with new seals. i have searched about this, and all that came up was the debate on weather or not to use the FC rotors.
my question is, what has to be done in order to use the 88 rotors in the FD engine? do i have to change both counter weights? im going to be using the stock flywheel. ive talked to one person that said i wouldnt have to change anything unless i change my flywheel. will my old eccentric shaft work with the different rotors. any insight will be helpfull.
thanks, brad

Ex fd *****
Its the 12a rotors that are smaller, all 13b rotors are the same size and only differ in their weight, and the shape of the "Bath Tub" that controls Compression ratio. I the 88 T-II rotors are lower compression than the FD rotors (8.0 vs 9.0 iirc)

difference is the weight and the compression if you do uses these rotors you will have to ballence the whole assembly. i.e front counter weight rear flywheel for the rotor set you are useing... other wise you will loose that nice set of housings are rotors quick
Shane
also these are 8.5:1 vs 9.0:1

as i stated i did use the "SEARCH FEATURE"! this is one reason i dont visit this forum often anymore. 9 times out of 10 when people ask a question, they get bashed for not searching. i had a specific question which did not get answered in any of the related threads. or if it did i was just wanting clarification. for example my question was,
quote from lanechange "I am going to go ahead and do it. I am getting a new counterweight and needle bearing. But other than that I think that is all I need, right?" this was the last post on one of the other threads.
anyways thanks for everybody's replies, they have been helpfull. i have gotten mixed opions from different sources today. basically i think that in order to use the 88 rotors in my 93 engine, i have to use 2nd gen counter weights and get everything balanced.

Just another confirmation:
You must use the following matched parts to get the balance right:
- front counterweight
- rotors
- flywheel (manual with stock flywheel) or rear counter weight (with auto tranny or light flywheel)
The rotors will fit fine, and the FD eccentric shaft will work fine with the 88 parts.
Do note that the plugs will be in a slightly different position on the 88 rotor housings versus the FD rotor housings. I don't think this should be a problem, but there are differences in the rotor housings. I know the plug positions are different, but there might be more differences as well.
