Fans and the battery......

So then I take the time to set my turbo timer on so the fan stays on because Cali is getting hot hot hot. I had it on for 10 min about 3 times in one day and the battery had to be jumped by my friends car.

Will one of those Yellow/Red Optima batteries be better for my situation? Of course now I set the fan on for 3-4 min because I'm afraid that my battery will die on me again.

I wouldnt ever let my car idle for 10 minutes- and i live in florida.
10 minutes is a long time for the car to be still with no real airflow over the fans- and absolutly nothing over the oilcooler(s).
Florida is hot- i drive easy for a few minutes before i get to where im going- and TT it for 30 seconds, and if I am somewhere safe (home or work) where i will stay for anything over a few hours, i pop the hood.
Just my opinion- but i dont think idling for 10 minutes is helping anything.

Ah no no, not idling it for 10min of course not. I always stop boosting a few min before going into the garage. AFter idling for 1-2 min then the car shuts off.

I then turn the key to the "on" position so the fans turn on, then I set the turbo timer to 10min or so.

I'd be damned to leave my motor running for that long...

Have you done the fan mod? That way just the fan will be on, nothing else. I know it takes two minutes for the fan to kick in with this mod. So you have a second preset on your tt, set it for the 2 minutes if you do forget to switch the fan on when you park.

I think you are draining you battery, and the exide battery sucks, i think thats what kragen sells. I would not recomment any optima batteries. Once they discharge it is a bitch to get the car started and it will not hold a charge for quite some time. I recommend the interstate, get the higher rating one its like $10 more or an ac delco battery.

Don't bother with a turbo timer. Like everyone else said you won't get airflow over the oil coolers or through the engine compartment.

Drive easy for the last mile or two and shut the car off when you park. Going 60 mph only takes about 20hp, the engine is actually running it's coolest at speed.

Will the Interstate batteries fit into the stock battery box? And what do you mean by higher rating?

Thanks.

Interstate batteries are pretty good, if you get the same group size it should fit. I think for our car it's group size 35. I could be wrong. Or go to Sears, and get a Die Hard, always had good results with Die Hard. Also the higher rating? I think he was talking about Cold Cranking Amps. That way you'll have more juice in trying to start your car.
