Failing Cat converter???

I have a quick issue that i hope someone can give me a little insight with. My car has been sitting for about 3/4 months in storage and i started for first time today.

It started fine and i let it full warm up. It sounds VERY different. It sounds very bogged down and exhaust is not even half as loud as before. I noticed the cat converter had become RED GLOWING HOT.

Is it possible in this time that the converter may have failed or is it something else?

sounds like the cat is clogged and overheating. don't drive the car until you replace it. it may cause turbo damage due to excessive back pressure and heat.

are we talking about the pre-cat of main cat. Get rid of the pre-cat ASAP. Car will run much better and spool up faster. If it's the main cat and was in storage something could of built a nest in it???

or I am thinking it rusted out from moisture collecting after years of sitting.

I've had this happen myself. The problem is not a bad cat; rather, it is caused by a misfire or other condition resulting in a lot of unburned fuel reaching the cat. The excess fuel is burning in the cat causing it to overheat.

Be advised that if you operate for any length of time under this condition, it will permanently damage or destroy the cat.

^^^ I concur. This is typical of unburned fuel being consumed by a functioning cat. Most owners manuals (I don't remember reading it in the FD manual, though) contain warnings on causing cat damage or worse by running with a misfire, etc.
