Exclamation Everyone with the Cooling Fan mod

I was just trying to see which method everyone used? I am currently looking at the voodoo mod... link... http://rx7.voodoobox.net/howto/fanswitch/fanswitch.html They say to splice the two relays on the left, is that what most people have done? or are there any better methods?

Thanks,
Chris

There is another method:

http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/fan_mod.html

However, that method didn't work for me (grounding the wire didn't do anything). I'll be doing the one you posted a link to as soon as I quit being lazy.

i just ground the wire from the relay near the ECU. I'm not sure if this makes the fan go on high or low mode. but i have it hooked up to a switch.

Voodoo mod for me, lets you start/stop them whenever you want, they come on sooner, they come on stronger, and they stay on longer and after shutdown all in one easy mod. Wow, that sounded like an ad for deodorant or something.

when you turn it on it goes to high. if you turn it on atleast 2 minutes before you turn the car off the fans will stay on high for 10 minutes. or if you turn it on for the 2 minutes..turn the car off..wait 30 seconds and turn the fan off it will stay on low for 10 minutes. one of the coolest thing ive ever seen.

Did the,

Ground the extra wire near the ECU, to a switch.
Mounted the Switch on center console.
Works like a charm... Easiets of the DIY mods..

BUT I hear it only works if you had the Fan relay
Recall done.

I just did the voodoo mod but I kinda messed up... I used the two relays furthest from the fender insted of the two to the left. I checked out everything once I finished up and it seems to be the same as described. Medium when the switch was flipped and High once the A/C was turned on.

I did the "behind the ecu" fan mod. I got my switch located in between the fog light and defroster switch. I labeled it "nitrous oxide.".......wha? Jus eye candy.

I have the Power FC but the Voodoo mod is a little different. I dont see how the PFC would affect either.

I can do this w/ my turbo timer.
After I shut off the car, I put the key back in and turn it to ING, but don't turn the car back on. This will make the turns turn on and my turbo timer will be on also. I set the TT to 10 minutes and take out the key and leave my car. The fan will stay on until the TT time runs out.
I want to do the ON/OFF switch mod for when I'm stuck in traffic though.

Now that I've done the fand mod, and have the fan on most of the time, should I be worried about the fan motor going bad?

Yea.. You can burn out the motor...

I only turn mine on when I get to 94Degree Celcius.
And when STOPPED at a light or in traffic..
As soon as I start Rolling I Turn them OFF..

Cool thanx. I dont have a temp gauge yet. So I have no way of knowing. But the stock gauge tends to drop 2 notches from the normal middle stay.

I'll get the temp gauge asap. But for now, should I just turn my fans on for normal street driving, rush hour traffic, and light speeds? Basically if I'm doing 60+mph on the freeway, turn'em off right?

One more thing, if the motor does go bad, how much for a new one and do I get it from the dealership?

I just did voodoobox mod and it works great. It did not work as described though. i used the 2 switch method and switch toggles the fans on and of and the other one toggles low and med. Works fine for me though my water temps havnt seen above 200F since mod.
