Engine Torque Brace

Does anybody know what the difference would be between the 2 torque braces at the rx7store?

One's solid, one's a dampener(sp). Read: one will allow a little movement where the other will not.

I can tell you that the solid one flew apart on me. Whether caused by bad motor mounts or not I can't say.

The one claiming to be equipped with a "heavy duty shock" (for $139) looks just like the one Gotham sells. It's really just a "heavy duty" nylon bushing, and not a dampner/shock as commonly thought of. Neither will allow much movement.

^No problem. I wasn't either until I did a bit of an impulse buy of a used Gotham brace. It seemed cheap and I wanted to try one.

FWIW, despite being surprised with it's design I'm not unhappy with it. It took a while to get it properly adjusted to avoid rattles, but it did reduce that "spoon in a bowl of jello" shake of the shifter. IMO, it's not as dramatic as they claim, but an improvement.

I would like to purchase one for my car, but $140 seems a bit steep. Especially when someone was selling engine torque braces on ebay a while ago for like $50. I keep holding out waiting for them to go back on ebay for that price.
Something tells me I shouldn't hold my breath.

^Just watch the forum's "parts for sale" section. They come up periodically.
