CA Engine swap from auto to manual trans

I have a 93 with a manual tans i bought a engine from a car with an automatic trans. The back of the engine where it bolts up to the bell housing is a little diffrent mainly its the cuttouts on the engine housing the manual has a cutout on the top and the auto engine has a cutout where the starter bolts in. so my question is can the engine out of the automatic car bolt directly into mine with the manual trans. Or do i have to swap the rear engine plate. Any other info about the swap would be greatly appriciated.

the rear plates are different between the two. I've done a handful of trans swaps from auto to manual, and the manual will bolt up to the auto rear plate, but with fewer bolts. not all of the holes line up exactly, but you've already noticed that but enough to hold the transmission in the car and function well enough to drive the car.

best of luck with the car

Yes, it can be used.

I changed from auto to manual. Make sure to change the harness, since I have done mine and went and installed apexi power fc, its a wreck. Readings/etc are all messed up.

The car mechanically worked fine before I put the apexi in, but since then nothing but trouble, so make sure to use manual harness.

you have to rewire the manual harness to plug into the auto dash harness there is a full write up and its pretty easy to do

Thanks for the help guys. one more question the engine came out of an automatic car so it has the counterweights on ther back of the engien still. my book shows for a manual trans you dont use the counter weight but when i pulled the engine out of my car (manual trans ) it had a counter weight on it to. im not sure if there is something people are doing out there where they leave the couterweigt on for a manual trans. is there any pros or cons for this counter weight staying on there with the manual trans. and yes it has a diffrent flywheel than the book is showing.

the rear counter weight is for a lightened flywheel or flex plate. if your using the stock flywheel with the manual trans then you dont need the counter weight
