Exclamation Engine rough, barely runs

I searched through the forum and found this link. only problem is, all of the thread i found never had any results.
https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/please-help-diagnosis-227925/
i'm having the same problems, only thing is none of my harnesses were ever shorted/cut anything like that. I bought the car a few months ago, and before he sold it he took out the PFC, fuel rail with 1600cc injectors and the fuel pressure reg, to my knowledge. I've checked just about everything, coils are fine, strong spark, and good compression. all the sensors check out, too, MAP, IAT, Idle control selenoid, gaskets are good (and metal) and there's no other intake/exhaust leaks that i found. it also has white smoke that smells like fuel. Another thing, i didn't check any fuel systems cuz i figured it didn't smell extremely rich, and it wasn't a blown motor or anything because the compression was fine, so i thought that because the fuel wasn't getting ignited maybe. it runs rough, like the ignition went out or something and it's only runnin on one rotor. it runs horrible at all times, cold, hot, idle, acceleration, all except when the motor decelerates. Also, my starter just coincidentally went out at the exact same time, but i beleive that's just a coincidence, and nothing to do with how my engine runs, but i figured i'd give that info. i'm at a complete loss as to what the problem is, i'm about to take it to gotham racing and have them look at it.
i havn't been running it very hard, cuz i know i need some fuel mods to be safe with all the airflow mods i have (intake, hks exhaust, upgraded cat, blitz FM intercooler, street ported engine w/ match ported intake/exhaust manifolds. i bought the car like this, too). I'm thinkin it may be my ECU, in which case i'm screwed. Thanks for any help, and even more thanks to anybody that doesn't flame me for "posting before searching" or any **** like that, cuz i've been searchin for a week.

well, it HAD an apexi PFC on it before i bought it, but it was removed, i suppose. I have the reciept from when he had the engine rebuilt, and it says "install MG fuel rail and 1600cc injectors w/ resistors, install pfc" that's why i also think it may be ecu.

Why do you think the PFC may have been removed? Because there's no commander? The PFC comes as the ECU alone, and you can purchase an optional commander for it as well. It sits in the stock ECU location, so unless you check the floorboard, there's no way to know if you have a stock ECU or not (I think). Why don't you just call the guy you bought it from and ask him if the ECU is still there?

well i don't see it anywhere, and i don't think denso makes ecu's for apex. i shouldn't have really said "i suppose" because he told me he took it off when he sold it, along with all the fuel mods he had.
i'm taking it to gothamracing anyway, thanks for the help.

Also, make sure it isn't something super simple, like the vacuum line to the MAP/boost sensor by the oil filter is popped off...

update-- took it to gotham racing, they said my engine definatly popped. they know at least one rotor is gone, they just havn't gotten a chance to tear it apart to figure out which one or how bad. i guess that's what a blown motor sounds like... oh well. time for street port and 3mm apex seals.
