there is no such thing as a bulletproof engine. that is an oxymoron... they all pop.

how about your goals for the car? what is your ultimate goal? we could sit here all day and "list" stuff for you to do.
what is your budget?
are you sure you can rebuild this yourself? to me at this point it is nothing but a bunch of paperclips and rubberbands, but if you ask this type of question....i have to question you ability. maybe i totaly misunderstood your question. is someone going to do it for you?
being very obscure with your questions will not get you the best responses.
be specific.
what research have you done and what are YOUR own opinions at this point?

i honestly want you to answer all the questions i have asked. answer them honestly.

there comes a point where you cross what i would call a reliability threshold....that being anything over 400hp IMHO.

you can upgrade the apex seals...

a good ecu and good tuning will help keep you from popping it.

you will need these things if you are gonna go with that kind of setup.

streetport...this is a must.
1200-1300 cc inj
power fc (good tuning is hard to find..do NOT tune by mail...only tune with datalogot and wideband or DYNO)
RRR Stock Mount Large IC (similar to the m2 but costs less and has better fitment) 7148398018 is their #
RRR intake (similar to m2 and pettit but 150 bucks cheaper)
pettit exhaust or similiar (the racing beat sounds el cheapo and the apexi n1 dual will melt your bumper)
downpipe
hi flow cat
profec b boost controller or similar
BNR or M2 turbo upgrade...or jspec stock.. FAST FAST
fluidyne or koyo or similar radiator
additional oil cooler if you dont have an R1
koni struts...strutbar...H&R springs or similar
rims and tires (may need coilovers instaed of the konis)
brake upgrades

Im sure Im forgetting some things...anyone care to chime in?

j

btw...do your research...i agree with the above post about that. the more mods you do the more you need to know what you are doing.

the above list will put you close to 400 hp

streetport....you can run a streetport on a stock ecu....

its a must....a streetport..ecu...intake..catback...and dp will wake your car up and youll be killin c5s at will. an IC and radiator should be next on that list for sure.

j

Racing Beat "el cheapo"? I beg to differ.

Have you had one artguy, or are you speculating?

no speculation....seen it with my own eers on many occasion.

I have an n1 dual and i think it sounds like ***.

the pettit sounds the toughest to me and it doesnt have that nasty drone that the n1 has and the RB has to a slightly higher pitch.

My opinion, however, differs from artguy's. I love the way my own racing beat exhaust sounds. It is quiet for daily driving and on the highway. Until you open up the throttle and it sounds like a frikken racecar. Its pitch is higher, but I think it makes it sounds even more like a damn Indy car.

It gives great feedback for when you open it up. The welds and fitment are unmatched. You truly get a refined product. I've noticed a number of RX-7 owners on this forum who wished they had gotten one over the competitors.

Plus, racing beat is just a quality company all around who has stuck with the RX since the beginning.

i have a straight piped fd and the exhaust is suprisingly quiet how ever it might be because my straight piped integra is so loud.

I normally agree with you Artguy, but not on the RB comment. To me, the RB is the best sounding cat-back I've heard and I really like mine. I have heard the N1 duals which are horribly loud (w/midpipe) and sound terrible. The HKS muffler exhaust (not cannister) sounds very similar to the RB. I have not personally heard the Pettit or the PFS.

just to get the motor rebuilt, ported, and installed is gonna cost approx. 5 g's. so 7k isn't gonna be enough. i think 10k is more realistic, and this is w/o suspension, wheels, and clutch, which you'll also need.

Are you serious? You are telling me a straight piped rotary is suprisingly quiet? There is nothing quiet about a straight piped rotary and I don't think anyone on this forum (except you) will disagree with me.
