Engine dies off at WOT

Lately, as I've been driving on the highway at WOT, at high RPM's like 6000-7500, the engine makes thi loud "brrrraaaaattttt" noise and the car kinda juts forward and rpms drop, as does boost.

It kinda feels like a speed governer, but it's not a specific MPH, it's more like at a combination of gear, RPM's, and boost level.

Please throw any ideas or input you may have.

TIA

I'm sorry but, I'm a complete newbie and still need a little hand-holding...could someone please elaborate? Is it simply low fuel, or is something wrong that I could remedy?

Thanks.....I just bought the car & this is what I've been told has been done to it (I've confirmed it with Pettit racing as well):

New engine & turbos from Pettit racing (boosting about 10psi)
3mm Apex seals
K & N filters w/heat shield
Downpipe
Pettit exhuast, no cats
Greddy blow off valve
Super Short Shifter
New clutch & pressure plate

What's your boost pattern 10-8-10 is normal.
Are you hitting 10lbs and holding with no spiking?

Also call Pettit, and tell him your hitting fuel cut.
I would say it's because your using a midpipe with out using a aftermarket ECU or fuel computer. But i'm no mechanic, i just increased my fuel on my FCON to get rid of it. I also have a Fuel Cut Defencer(FCD) on my FCON. HKS makes the FCD you could ask pettit about installing a FCD, they aren't expensive.

Thanks a lot.....I'll give them a call tomorrow.

I'm pretty sure my boost pattern is normal, but I'm somewhat new to this and am having a tough time understanding the guage as it bounces around. I'll have Pettit check it out and hopefull give me some quick turbo 101 course.

thanks again.

Since your new, i'd go and hit the search button, and enter fuel cut and i'm sure you will find some more info on it, and how to fix it. Good luck

The gauge is easy. When the car is off, it should be at zero. When you're at WOT, it should never go above 10 or 11psi. 12psi is usually where fuel cut occurs. 3rd or 4th gear usually works well to produce a full range of boost on the street and not blow thru the RPM range too fast to see the boost levels.

Taking it to Pettit is a great idea - if you're having fuel delivery problems then you might blow your engine.

Now thinking about it, you have a streetport engine and midpipe, and running stock ECU.
With the streetport your pushing more air through your engine, and a midpipe that could cause some boost spikes. Get a ECU, especially with a ported engine.

my advice, stop doing that to your car, your new engine will be shot to **** before you know it. you need more fuel and an aftermarket ecu to control all the extra stuff you've done to your car...i remember when i first had my car, i was overboosting insanely and i had the EXACT same problem as you, lucky for me only thing that went wrong was the injectors eventually went bad and my turbos were leakin a little oil...much worse things can happen.
