Electronics not working

Good morning
I've been building a 92/93 FD3S for about a year. And I put in the cluster and a new climate control. All of them light dimmer, emergency lights, all that.
So the cluster won't light up, and everything hooked up to the new climate control won't work. The one thing that does work is the e-lights flasher, but once i plug it in it won't stop flashing. And the left and right flashers do show on the cluster.
Does anyone know what could be wrong?
The engine starts, sunroof, side mirror motors work.

Does anyone know where the grounding cable is supposed to be located?
And there is power to room and meter fuse.

This thread details what the cluster requires for power and grounds in and out of the car. The grounds are located behind the glove box area of the dash and also in the engine bay bolted to the intake manifold.

The dimmer is crucial to a working backlight for the whole dash. I know my personal dimmer only worked 1/2 of the time before I put the time into cleaning up the contacts. I'd check that too.

For the constant e-light flasher, make sure your plugs into the security ecu (driver's kick panel) are securely plugged in. If they are, unplug and reseat both plugs just to be sure. I dealt with this once and I think that was it. Other causes could be that your factory alarm is going off without the siren attached...

I think I might have messed up with the climate control.
There are 2 different types of climate control. Im not sure exactly what the difference is.

You can see how bad the old owner was to the car.

So is it possible to buy a new harness or rewire it to work? All the connectors fit except for the fan blower.

I'd say you're probably right concerning the climate control swap as being part of your problem.
I didn't realize you were working on a 'real' FD3S. Guys on this forum get the S part wrong so much its hard to figure out who knows what they're talking about and who doesn't

Unfortunately all of us mericans with plain old FD3 RX7s never had the option for an automatic climate control. Not only that, I've never come across a diagram for one, so trying to figure out that conversion would be a stab in the dark. If you could find a diagram for the automatic version I might could help, but beyond that I'm out of my range.

Hello
So I was talking to the old owner and asked if there's anything he might remember as to why the cluster is not working.
He said that he was trying to fix a wire on the alternator, the one with the 2 connectors. And he accidentally crossed the 2 and he seen a spark the heard a click coming from somewhere near the ECU side.
I'm not 100% sure, but does not one of these wires power the cluster?

Negative. The alternator's feedback with the battery comes through the 120A Main fuse and 30A EGI fuse. The cluster gets its power from the 15A METER fuse.

The two small wires at the alternator are known as Lamp and Sense.

Sense lets the alternator "see" the voltage in the system so the internal regulator can determine how much output needs to be generated. This wire terminates in the engine bay fuse box.

Lamp serves two purposes. The alternator grounds this wire if it senses an internal fault and this will turn on various warning lights. The alternator also receives a small amount of current through this wire just before the engine starts. This serves to excite the field in the alternator and allows it to generate power. If this wire isn't hooked up, or all the bulbs in the circuit in the dash are burned out then you'll only intermittently get output from the alternator since this particular alternator can't reliably "self excite"

Thank you guy so much for the help trying to get my car on the road!
I finally got my cluster working except for the odometer and the milage. I'm sitting in there right now trying to figure it out.
Hope to have it on the road by movember just in time before the winter lol

In the interest of keeping your thread from becoming one of those threads that just end in "I fixed the problem - Thanks" can you post what you did to fix your problem? I know all the little rotorheads that search for similar problems and stumble into this thread would appreciate it.

Kinda embarrassing!
On top of the interior fuse panel there is a plug that connects to the cluster harness.
I removed it and seen that the plugs had green stuff all over them.
I took it apart and cleaned it out, now I have power to the cluster.
But after a few minutes my RPMs don't work now and the odometer still won't work.
But none the less have power.
Lights and everything work on the cluster.
So if it doesn't end up raining tomorrow morning I can work on it a little more.
