ECU upgrade necessary?
I was just reading over Pettit's website and from what I have read/heard they are one of the most experienced rx7 shops in the US.
Now on their TKT package they install a cold air intake, a cat back, and a pulley system to get 60 hp, dynoed 320 to the wheels. With no ecu modification at all.
Is this safe? I have searched and everything I find says after two mods you need to upgrade the ECU.
Also just a second question, is much beneift really realized from the pulley system? Or is it very minimal, as with these systems on most other vehicles?

Call me gramps!
That setup will not produce 320RWHP. As said above, UD pulley kits (they vary from just alt/water pump to crank pulley sets) will help, but not that much. The accessories are already trimmed quite a bit to save weight, losing a few more ounces will not produce that much of a gain (especially at lower rpms). One of the main benefits are that they do reduce caviating of the water pump (where the pulley spins to fast that it is just churning air) at high rpms.

Contrary to popular belief, the stock ECU runs very rich. If the boost is kept at stock levels, the ecu will handle more than 3 mods (given you don't have insane boost spike).
