Hey guys. I was wondering what you thought would be safer on a stock ecu: dp or intake. I'm running a 3" catback but that's it for the airflow. It'd probably be an M2 intake if I were to buy one. I just wasn't sure which would yield a closer margin to running lean on the stock mapping- a dp spooling boost or an intake feeding more air to the turbines.

If I were to get one or the other, I'd get an ecu upgrade before buying the next. I was leaning towards the dp for its qualities of being a reliability mod and quick hp gains. The weather's getting pretty cool around here now and I figured the intake wouldn't be necessary until I'm running higher boost.

Definitely get the downpipe. Intake can wait. As long as you control any increase in boost it will be fine.

 

Any boost control suggestion on that? I don't want to be spending much money for no reason since I'll probably go stand alone around Christmas or so depending on where I am with things.

 

$3 for a couple of home depot bleeder valves. That is if your boost jumps up by much.

There are many posts on how to do this, also check in the noobie section. One of the sites listed has a good how to. You would be fine running intake, dp, and cb without going lean. If you car does some unlikely spikes, then do the home depot boost controller, otherwise your fine.

 

Basically, you put them in the hoses going to the turbo precontrol and wastegate actuators. They let more, or less pressure reach the actuators, and allow you to run more or less boost.

DP all the way HP and lower temps.

 

HP and lower temps is a plus for me. Although as cold as its getting here, I'm enjoying the efficiency of my heater. I haven't had precat footwarming much lately since its been so cold. Tires spin stripes on the road on everything into the middle of second and break again before I shift into 3...but usually by then, I'm letting off it to keep from going sideways. So dp's the way to go. Probably get that next. Thanks guys.
