ebay cheap clear lense + 8000k or 6000k?

I know the ebay lens are built for right hand drive, but it will sure beat the stock lens plus hid. I know 6000k is optimal lighting but since it will blind other driving will bumping it up to 8000k help? It will decrease light output so less blinding... ?

A higher number is not brighter. 6000 is about the highest before you start actually losing light. 8000 will be bluish. 10k will be purple. More than 6k and you are asking to get pulled over in my opinion.

I understand that it will not be brighter as the k goes up. That is why I was thinking of intentionally going higher to get a lower light output and thus not blind people as badly.

It looks like crap if you do that. since you have a reflector lens instead of a projector lens, a D2R bulb would work better at not blinding people. When I see a car rockin 8-10k bulbs it just looks cheaply done.

The bluer the light output is, the more fatiguing it will be. Most OEM HIDs range from 4100k to 4300k. Anything over 5000k will give lower output. The eyes tend to detect less usuable light as the color spectrum starts leaning above 5000k also, even though it is more fatiguing. BTW, the difference between 4500k and 5000k is 100 lumens less, your eyes might not notice it much but once you go over 5000k there is a big difference in light output.

I suggest getting less than 6000k and adjusting your headlights, so you won't blind the living **** out of everything that is coming the opposite direction.

^ who is the ebay seller?

Those fit the fd? It doesn't look like they have the tabs to bolt on to the factory holes.

Buy the HID kit from RX7Store and stop trying to cut corners with cheap lenses, they are cheap for a reason! The patterns are all wrong and who knows if they're even DOT compliant.

I wouldn't dick around with Ebay parts when it comes to important systems like headlights. Better to spend a little more and be safe instead of sorry.

I'm interested too because with original headlight when you install an HID kit the light pattern is all crap too.
Just for one example my right headlight is ligthing all over the upper left part, that's completely wrong, anyway all left and right pattern are crap.
I think that's because HID bulbs are longer than H4 bulbs so focal point is wrong -> pattern wrong.
Using clear lenses with a good rear pattern projector should go better.
But FD lights are not 7"x6" if you measure them, they're not square like the ebays and on the outer parts become thinner.
If you google for rx7 clear lights you'll find alot of american supplier with DOT approved lenses (the same you can find on ebay).
I'm not buying a pair to test because i'm in Italy and the shipping cost is over twice the cost of the lights.

zaltec, this stuff has been beaten to death in other posts.
Go here and you might get some answers (bottom of thread)

Ya, the only stock like headlamps that you can purchase are the ones like this

Since I am eventually going to go to sleek headlights when I do my exterior mods I won't undertake a HID pop up project. If I was to do one, I would take the plastics and do some fitting for two HID projectors then fiberglass them in. It would look similar to the Knighsports kit except with projectors.

Nope. I took him at his word. I seem to remember seeing a pic on the forums when people were discussing them.

According to other posts the only solution to have a good pattern is to retrofit a projector into a clear headlight.
Not very easy to do...
