Duct Tape (Literally)

I have a GReddy SMIC on my car but the duct work doesn't match up perfectly and I'm worried that it could be an issue with cooling the air. That being said, is there any specific tape I should use to seal that gap? A foil duct tape? Special tape? Any other suggestions?

could you corner the ducting with foam. lowes/home depot/etc.. typically have 2-sided foam strips. just a though.

Although I have used duct and similar tapes in similar applications, it is a relatively poor solution. Its main problem is that the adhesive tends to melt and turn either to goo, or harden to the point that it's brittle in the presence of heat over 100F. Even if that does not happen, the tape itself tends to swell and wrinkle, and winds up looking ratty. There are some specialized tapes made to use at elevated temperatures, but they are fairly expensive.

As an example, here's a photo of some pretty good duct tape that wrinkled on my IC duct.

My duct has rubber edging around it. I can't take credit for it as when I bought it used, it came this way. I'm not sure if that's how Pettit originally shipped the ducts or if the previous owner added it but that's an option depending on the size of the gap (which is why I asked).

Kyle, I had one of the original M2 Large SMIC's and the duct came with identical rubber around the sealing face.

that's the way the coolcharge ducting comes... with rubber padding.

My PFS duct did not come with a sealing medium around the edge, but it was easy to add. I used round foam weather stripping, split it down the middle but not all the way through, and used adhesive to attach it to the edge of the duct. Works well, sealed tight.

I am sure you can find some foam weather stripping at your local Home Depot or Lowes.

anyone know what kind of rubber sealing is used on mahjik's intercooler duct? i would rather use that than foam weather stripping.

They don't call it duct tape because it makes you bacon.
