Ok this is the mystery part in question .
I have no idea what it is & was hoping someone can tell me what it might be.
My throttle stuck the other day & when I popped the hood this is what I found logged in the throtle cable.
Any ideas?

it's called the dashpot.
it connects to your throttle body. It's suppose to engage at 2800 rpms and slow the throttle cut-off when you release your foot off the throttle.
yours appears to be malfunctioning. There's a plastic rod that compresses in and out. yours appears blackened and pushed all the way. take some carb cleaner and spray it down.

Thanx grimple for the info on it being the dashpot ..
Is it a mandatory part? I mean is it gonna cause any damage if it isnt in place?
Also what makes it work, that little white push button on the top of it?
It looks like its stuck in, should I just try WD & try to work it, or do you think the spring inside is worn-out & should I just replace it ?
Thanx for the help

It's not going to hurt not having it, but without it sometimes the car will want to stall when you push in the clutch and come to a stop. It keeps the throttle plates from just snapping shut.
I seem to remember they were a hair on the pricey side new. Might want to see if you can find a good used one first.
