dual oil coolers cheap
someone on the classifieds asked me for a parts list of fittings that i used to convert a driver's side oil cooler to the passenger side so i thought i would pass it on:
i bought my fittings from my favorite hard parts supplier from my road racing days... you can check out their excellent website: www.pegasusautoracing.com
here's what you need to order. cost is $180.
3 male 22 MM X1.5 MM metric concave seat 8 AN aluminum $56.97 item number #3276-008
10 ft #8 aeroquip line $54.90 item # 3270 08
2 45 degree alu #8 hose end $29.98 item # 3271 08 045
1 straight alu #8 hose end $6.49 item # 3271 08 000
1 male 18 MM X 1.5 Metric concave seat to 8 AN steel $13.99 item # 3265-35
1 150 degree alum #8 hose end 16.99 item # 3271 08 150
$179.32 plus a driver's side cooler ( you can buy them by the truckload for $50 shipped) and duct and some work on your part.
the install worked out great. no leaks. stone cold oil temps making over 500 rwhp.

Howard, any detailed writeup? This would be awesome as I have a spare driver side cooler.

fyi, see page 2 of the 3rd gen classifieds to buy your very own oil cooler... $50 shipped.
once you remove the nose to get to the coolers you will note that your cooler has bent fins in the area exposed to direct airflow.
buy yourself a set of picks at the hardware store, grab the oval faced pick, turn on the Speed Channel and straighten the fins. it's good therapy and the cooler will look brand new after 30 minutes.
once you have straightened the fins you will want to buy an 18 x 24 section of Medium Mesh Stainless #6 screen item #3641 $18.99 and mount it between the duct and the cooler face.

Wow, excellent stuff as usual Howard! That's a great way to keep oil temps in check without breaking the bank!
BTW, I bought a new oil cooler duct for my car a while back from Ray - I think brand new it was like $30 or something, pretty reasonable.

If anyone is interested FDnewbie will be offering something similar except using -10 lines. The only line that doesn't get replaced is the line from the the pedistal to the cooler, which is optional. The price will be similar, but everything will come pre-assembled. For those with a little more money to burn a full dual oil cooler kit will be available. But going with the stock oil coolers will definatly save a bounch of money.

I was thinking about rigging something up with AN lines and two hyabusa oil coolers. (they come with screens) Someone want to impart me with some knowledge? good idea / bad idea?
Anyone have more information on Ramy's coming set-up?
