DP, CB, AND a high-flow cat??

I know that if you are running a DP,MP, and CB that you should be running an upgraded ECU as well, but what if it was a high-flow cat and not a mid-pipe? Will you still have lean fuel problems?

Depends

I think it depends on a bunch of things. Your car, the weather. If your that far into the mods, save up and get and ECU. I don;t think it's worth cutting it fine. A set of turbos and a motor (typcial when the apex seal goes) will cost about $7-8k installed. So why F around? It runs better with a P-FC too.

if you don't want a upgraded ecu then get a boost controller to keep it at stock level.

Typically no.

It really depends on your boost levels. The stock ECU has fuel cut around 12 PSI, give or take depending on RPM's and other things...

Every car is different. If you keep the car at stock boost levels then you are ok whatever you bolt on with the stock twin turbos and the stock ECU.

Many ways, the Home Depot boost control is one way. However, keeping boost down with a hi-flo cat is different than with a midpipe (actually, rarely do you see people with uncontrolled boost using stock or hi-flo cats on the car... its the midpipe guys that have a hard time). Midpipes pretty much overrun the stock wastegate.

In that case, there isn't much to do for controlling boost other than porting the wastegate or adding some restriction in the exhaust.

My first mods were a highflow cat, DP and a catback. everything else was stock. My first turbo was 10 PSI, but I could not go over 4500 rpm without hitting 12 lbs boost. I would have spiked pretty bad on the 2nd turbo.

Becareful. AND BTW....the power FC has a water temp reading that saved my engine last week when I noticed my temps were rising. I would have overheated for sure. Was damn close. POWER FC is worth every penny.

Thanks for the opinions guys. I'll just wait and get the cat-back until around Christmas when I should be getting my PFC. Thanks again.

one ? on a related subject. i have an intake, empty pre cat and empty cat and stock cat back. my spikes run up to 14 psi with the ac off and 11psi with ac on hi. so im thinking of doing the home depot boost controller but not sure yet. but if i do, and the breathing and farting of the engine are much better but boost is tuned to 10psi, will i have any hp gains, or faster q.mile times?

You are headed for an engine rebuild if you keep spiking to 14 psi all of the time, especially if you will be driving the car as the weather gets colder and those 14 psi spikes become 15-16. Get some boost control. And yes, you will have more power than stock, even at 10 psi.
