Does Your FD Smoke After It's Been Sitting There for a While?
I've haven't driven my car in about a week.
Turned it on today and it smokes like usual b4 getting warmed up. But when I was driving it, I saw smoke in the mirror. I pulled over a few minutes later and checked it. It still smokes a lil bit. It was a short drive. Like 5 minutes.
Normal?

My 93 base smokes after it has been sitting for a while (4 or 5 days). I don't have any visible oil leaks and my car doesn't use any oil either. 71K on the odo. My friends 93 r1 smokes a little after sitting as well. Now that I think about it, my 88 TII smokes a little as well. I guess it is a rotary thing!

Basic questions ... what color was the smoke? And did it go away after the car was warmed up? Does it still smoke on startup after the car is warmed up? Depending on how you answer, it could be 1) turbo seals gone bad, 2) engine coolant seals gone bad, or 3) just normal condensation in the exhaust line .... I'm sure you know the drill.

The smoke is a grey color I think.
It usually goes away after the car warms up, but this time it didn't and still smoke while I was driving for a few minutes.
I don't think it's coolant seals. It a reman w/ 1500 miles.

it possibly your turbos. from what im told an oil leak from bad turbo seals will cause that. that might be why your car is smoking with a reman. man i hate this **** haha. me and a couple other friends with rx7s have the same problem. this is not a deff answer for you but take it as a lead to your cause. thanks

On my '94 VR I had a slight oil leak from a turbo seal and i would constantly smell burnt oil and it would slightly smoke. I would check around your turbo's to see if there's any oil residue around/below where it could have dripped.

Until you can get your turbos rebuilt or replaced, just keep a closer eye on your oil levels. Good luck.
