I uploaded a short clip of my HKS SSQV from digicamera. I bought it used and it came with the purple insert. so I never knew how the original silver insert sounds like. its a really dark, u can barely see the bov. but its u can hear it.

wmv format:

if that doesn't work for u, i exported a quicktime mov version. 3.3mb:

Here's a pic of my install w/ the blitz twin sus intake. Its the one for RX-7 that comes w/ a kit fitting for FD. (pics and video are from a few months ago. not the most updated emblem, battery, pulleys, AST)

its exactly the same as this one sellin on ebay but the price and looks like brand new with original inserts:

Read it! He said it was the purple insert... That's how it sounds. The other two give the high pitch whistle cuz they are the same 3 fin style just one is gold and one is silver. Here's what my BOV looks like on my car:

I haven't ever seen a picture of the HKS kit but I have seen a GReddy and it is very simple... A couple hoses and a special pipe to mount the BOV to. Replaces the stock BOV and uses it's hoses.

would there be a difference in sound if it is welded onto hardpiping compared to it on the stock hose that comes off the Y-pipe? just wanted to ask cause my friend said yes because the velocity is different....i have my greddy TYpe-s on the stock hose and i want it to be much louder. so im going to weld it onto hard pipe kit when it comes in if i get some responses. lol duh jdawg haha.

thoughi think that welding the BOV onto your intercooler hardpiping would make it a little louder though b/c for some reason i just feel the hard metal pipes will echo and project the sound much louder than a dampening soft, undulating rubber piping tube would

you remove the small bolts that goes in the circle around the insert if u look from the front view. after those bolts are removed, you can take the bullet-shaped outer shell off. then u can slide the original insert out from the inside. hope that answers your question.

ya when i get my vented hood and get my hardpipes i expect to have a louder BOV sound, and getting a naturally loud BOV helps too, the blitz DD is pretty f'in loud too, louder than a greddy for sure. i reccomend that one as well as the HKS
