do we have highest hp/liter?

there is a show on speed channal 10:30pm sundays called hi-rev tuners. todays episode was all about those sad cars called hondas. quiz question on the show, "what production car has the highest power per liter output in the world?" "answer: s2000 @ 120/liter". what tha? the 2002 fd almost doubles that at "280 bhp". are we the most efficient per liter in the world, just wondering if we have even more to brag about.

Yeah, what he said. FD's are kind of disqualified because of the turbos. All one would have to do to increase their "hp/liter" number is increase turbo size/boost.

Not a production car yet. Then the title will come back to the rotary.

I don't think they're going by NA cars alone. They're probably going by current production cars for sale in the US. The FD is current, but not for sale in the US anymore, leaving it out of the running. The S2000 then moves up, that is, until the RX-8 comes out.

'displacement' means something different for 4-stroke piston eng ( 2 revs per eng cycle ) vs 2-stroke piston ( 1 rev per eng cycle ) and rotary ( 3 rev per eng cycle).

since most think in terms of piston engines, those that set the tiitle may correct the 1.3 rotary na to a 2.6L 4-stroke piston type equivelant, as they do/did in racing.

the rotary and 2-stoke-piston rating systems make the most sense, as they reflect total number of intake (and combustion) events in one crank revolution. But that method would put the s2000 at 240 hp/L, so u need 313 hp from a 1.3L rx8 to win.
