thanks so much for locking the other thread guys!!!! thats sooooooooooooo cool!!! ive seen FAR worse threads. . . is there any way to ban one person from certain threads? id really like to do that.

as far as the polish work comments go guys. . . you really DONT know whats in this car. david makes it a point to have his car looking "stock modified". . . when its far from it. the polish is just nice looking. . . and he knows it.

david has gone through the pain to do things like move the brake booster line to the underside of the UIM. . . instead of having it stick out from the top. . . he did that at the brake booster as well. things like 3/8 in. hardline for fuel line to make things cleaner. . . he only has one section of flexible fuel line in the engine bay and its ss braided. his alternator has the capability of pumping out close to 200amps.

a MAJOR point on his car is the adaptation of the bnr twins that hes installed. theyre longer and the comp. housings are obviously bigger. anybody whos tried to install a set of these will more than likely have it looking a little less professional than his. . . hes gone through HUGE measures to make sure things fit RIGHT.

take a look at the engine bay pics again. . . find a vaccum line. . . i dare ya. . . youll be hunting. . . its just as hard in real person. . . TRUST ME. all of his vaccum lines are hidden out of the way using brake line "vaccum distributors" on the fire wall and on the pass. side fender wall. the throttle body has been oversized. . . and its the second one. the first one he did was stolen by peter farell. . . try doing that yourself. . . THE RIGHT WAY.

hes relocated all the ignition coils to the drivers side fender wall to keep the heat off of em. the leading coil is a 2nd gen coil. . . the secondary coils are dyna coils normally used on harleys. the leading used to be a crane cams coil that was used on harleys, but it recently burned out.

he milled his primary fuel rail for the use of 850cc injectors. the secondary rail and injectors are 1680s from RP. most of you know that when you get one of those rails you have to leave the fuel temp sensor dangling or just something like that. . . well, david doesnt like the idea of losing the whatever percentage that is when you dont have it in the fuel stream and arent using it. . . SOOOOOOOOOOOOO, he welded on a plate to bolt it into the rail making sure that the probe sat under the fuel flow (actually, just barely in the way) and had enough area around it so that fuel would cover it totally.

he rebuilt his transmission to closer tolerances so that it wouldnt be so loose. . . and you CAN feel the difference.

most anything that you can tell isnt really supposed to be there (as in aftermarket goodies) is out of the way and hidden. he prides himself in keeping an engine bay with a superclean appearance. hahaha.

i know you guys said, "there are several rx7s done way better than his". . . i gotta say this. . . i doubt it. they may have big turbos and 20bs and all this craziness. . . but i have seen NONE as clean. im not calling anyone out. . . not calling names. . . though, id like to call one member names, but thats immature. . . psshhh. . . just pointing it out. . . this car is top 5 material. . .

yeeeeeeeeeeeeees, i know the wheels are to ANYBODY'S liking. . . but that seems to be EVERYBODY'S argument about a nice car. . . "eww, those wheels are hideous". . . "why on earth did you disgrace this car with cheap wheels". . . BLAH. . . get over it.

Why is this guy going to the extremes, for show, or just to fill his own needs and raise the bar for others? Either way very respectable work.

haha, hell tell you himself that its not a show car. . . hes built MANY cars, bikes, whatever you want pretty much and theyve all been show quality. he has a turbo kawasaki motorcycle that was winning shows left and right back in the day. . . all hand built. he knows how to win shows for sure and decided to build a car that could combine driving and show. . . its not his DD, btw.

so, to answer your question. hahahaha. its for himself. . . and id say it might have something to do with raising the bar. hahahahaha

paul

another thing, if youll look at anything that he has polished or coated or something. . . he takes all the casting marks and unneccessary portions OUT. on his UIM i mentioned taking the little sliver of aluminum out from between the two primary runners. . . thought it might look cleaner. . . the next day, it was done. hahaha. we call it "the money pit" now!!!!!

heres the link to the sadly locked other thread https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/david-garfinkles-car-mmmmmm-345641/

David does these things for the same reason climbers climb mountains. . . "Because its there".

Until you see this car in person you cannot imagine the seamless integration of form and function he has created.

BTW IMHO the wheels are a PERFECT accessory to this car.

It is simply the most elegantly constructed and classy FD I have ever seen.

Hey Paul, when your talking about Davids car and the twins you should probably say CUSTOME BNR twins so people dont get confused. His are not the same as what most people get. None of the normal BNR twins that people buy will come with those intake housings.

Just wanted to clarify that for anyone reading the thread that might get confused. The normal BNR upgrades are bolt on

And yes, Davids car has a lot of cool stuff, things that other people dont do...its far beyond just polish work. The problem is you really just cant see it all from a picture, its one of those engine bays that the longer you look at it the more you notice small crafty things that have been done to it.

he doesnt have the computer skills that even my uneducated *** has. . . and hes a good friend and people put pics of scoot fd's and re fd's and all the other such. . . what does it matter. . . this thing is slick. . . shouldnt matter if IM the one putting it up. he has a screen name for the forum. . . just not very computer literate.

stephen, sorry about that. i meant to put that in there, but i was moving on and all the such. . . but yeah, the twins are one off and experimental right now. i dont know what the other twins do.

j, give a rest man!!!! hes had a lot of trouble with aem. . . and i THOUGHT i had answered you all those times, btw. . . and their ignition box. everytime he tried to get it tuned (thats 3 different times and occasions), the ignition was getting really stupid on him. when the box is plugged in, it retards the timing about 30 degrees!!!! cant tune like that!!!! hahahaha. he took bypassed the amp and has been driving it a little more spirited than he should be. . . i gotta say. . . its hard to believe that its not sequential. i believe it spools up quicker and pulls harder than my to4e. . . the pulling part doesnt surprise me, but the spool-up part does. . . . well, not really. haha. THATS ANOTHER THING HES DONE!!!! hahahaha, this proves stephens point very well about finding something new and even more cool everytime you look at it. hahahaha. anyways, he had all the hot stuff ceramic coated. thats one plus. the inside of the exhaust manifold (much like the guts of the BNR twins) is NOWHERE near stock. hogged out, reshaped, rerouted, blah, blah, blah. . . i told him that his exhaust manifold ALONE was gonna put numbers down. . . and now that he has these monsters??? i just wonder what he WILL do. his car is purely uncharted territory. hes done everything in his power to the motor and contributing parts to make the power. everything is matched. . . EVERYTHING. the engine has 3mm solid apex seals. the ports are out as far as he can go and still pass emissions. . . though, thats hard to say since hayes rotary built it. the engine was balanced. the rotors are out of an s4 turbo engine (low compression). basically, he wants to see just what the BNR twins CAN do.
